Transcend Information 240GB Portable SSD TLC USB 3.1 Gen 2, Silver (TS240GESD240C)

It came as a surprise that a company this big has no service center. My SSD stopped working suddenly. I checked Transcend website and they have mentioned no service center. I Googled around and found a few "authorized" ones, but they have stopped giving service. I eventually mailed Transcend and the reply I got was ask Amazon to replace it, and if they don't (which they didn't) contact our "Local Distributors" or "Global Partners". They gave four links to "Global Partners". Two of them had no mention of Transcend. The other two... I am still trying to contact... There was no details of "Local Distributors" given.I am never going to buy from Transcend again. End of story.

I bought this to move movies which are downloaded in my mobile. I tested with a samsung galaxy J1 and onleplus x and both worked fine. I used an OTG adapter to connect the USB-A cable. So it works like an OTG drve for mobile. When I checked on a Lenovo mobile, had frequent disconnect. Not sure if it is due to faulty usb port in mobile. Also I checked in a tablet having usb-c port and it is lightning fast. I assume it supports all latest mobiles having usb-c port. Since it is having usb-c cable, no need for adapter. The only cons I see is the long cables used to connect. Could be smaller. Another is it will heat up quickly. I watched movies from the disk on TV and didn't found any issue due to overheat or something.

Perfect product, i love its build style. It look very expensive and decent. Transfer speed is also awesome.

Just love the size . Its just tiny yet very fast. Copied 10 GB of videos from my Macbook using USB C just took 28 seconds.Heating like hell.. Hope its normal.

Good product but it heats after using...it has the speed of 130 mb/s in USB 3.0

Hi, hope this must be good product. But the one get it was working for few days. But now i am not able to format the drive. Let me know how to process for warranty.

read write speeds are really fast . i have used this with my surface pro 4 and it worked well

L'ho preso per la portabilità e per la velocità di backup.... Anche se dopo i primi giorni di utilizzo è leggermente rallentato. Ho notato, comunque, che dipende molto dal cavetto utilizzato.

★１つ分は、HDDと比較して、まだ容量の割に高価だから。とは言え、ノートPCで持ち歩く時には可動部品が無く、振動などによる破損の心配がない点いいですよね。32GB分ぐらいを動画データにして、あとはバックアップ用に使う予定。音楽動画を入れて２時間連続で再生（読み出し）するだけで結構発熱しますので、アルミ製の金属ケースで放熱性が良いのは長所だと思います。読み書き速度は環境と通信相手によりますね。ノートPCのM.2-PCIe接続のSSDからのコピー書き込みは爆速で、SDカードからのコピーは遅かったです。これはSDカード部分をデスクトップPCとファイル共有していた影響もあるでしょう。ケーブルはC-Cを使用しました。付属ケーブル２本の内、C-CケーブルはUSB3.1(Gen2)対応のためかケーブルが太いです。A-Cケーブルは(Gen1)対応で少し細めですが、スマホ用に使っているA-Cケーブルより遥かに太いケーブルが付属しています。性能重視なら太く短くするのが基本ですね。太い分、取り回しはしにくいですが、良いケーブルが付属していると思います。デスクトップPCの方は、世代的にCポートが付いていないためA-CケーブルでGen1接続になると思います。基本的にはUSB Cコネクタの規格とGen1/2等の速度規格は独立した規格らしいのですが、製品としては発売時期によってCコネクタとGen2が同時にサポートされているようですね。Gen1/Gen2ではインタフェース速度が２倍違いますが、この製品に内蔵されたSSDはM.2接続でもSATA仕様なので、そちらがネックになることも考えられます。まぁ、ポータブル性重視の製品に最高度の速度を求めるのは間違いでしょう。
