Great Harness!
I waited to write this review as this is the sort of product that needs use before reviewing. My cocker has had this since he was a 3 months old hes now 9 months and getting close to full size and it still fits well.As for quality and durability this product has performed fairly well bearing in mind my cocker is a lunatic and it has taken a long time to get him under control on the lead and his obsession with birds and rabbits and cows! has meant hes spent a lot of time on the long lead rather than on the loose, so this harness has been put through some real abuse.so for 6 months of daily use this product has faired pretty well only now is it time to replace it, after 6 months of crazy cocker use its top attachment point is still intact but is fraying badly(to a point i no longer use it) and the front attachment is showing some wear. The fabric of the main body of the harness is definitely looking used but is still in good condition. This is a great harness easy to put on and comfortably for my dog. I will likely buy another and now my cocker is older and finally showing some discipline I have no doubt the next harnesses lifespan will very likely go into years. This is a fantastic harness its lifespan will depend on how much of a loony your dog is and the usage it gets on the lead and thats down to the owner rather than the harness itself :)

Helps stop pulling, gives excellent control and comfortable for the dog
I had been put off trying a harness in the past due to an assumption (never good to make those) that because harnesses can be used for dogs to pull things, it would make my dogs pull more and not less. How wrong I was. Although both my dogs can walk lovely on a loose lead, they are Sighthounds so can suddenly pull strongly when they see something move in the distance and lunge at small furries such as squirrels and rabbits. They can also drag me along when we're walking through areas rich with wildlife. One of my dogs does well with a Gencon Gencon All-In-1 Dog Headcollar & Lead In One - Black/Silver Grey but the way I like to have it wrapped around my hand and two fingers for security means holding two of these in one hand isn't easy. Also as they are made for either right or left-hand use and are not interchangeable, it's tricky when I need both dogs on one side of me such as on narrow paths or by main roads and then need to switch to one on either side or just further apart, for example when toileting. To overcome the difficulty of using two Gencons simultaneously, previously I had the dog who is now in the Ruffwear harness on a different figure of 8 lead Dog & Field Figure 8 Anti-Pull Lead / Halter / Head Collar (NATURAL) - Soft Marine Rope - One Size Fits All - Fitting Instructions Included that wasn't fixed to one side only. It wasn't a bad head collar but he would still be able to pull hard on seeing prey, and on long walks I don't think head collars are as comfortable for dogs as padded harnesses like this one from Ruffwear. With the Ruffwear harness he can't pull nearly as hard and also pulls far less frequently. He just can't seem to help it when he sees a dog he knows and wants to say hello and when we're walking through areas densely populated with deer, squirrels and rabbits etc. There's one like this locally that I call squirrel city, but even with my weight being less than my dogs' combined, with one in the Ruffwear harness and the other in a Gencon, I can easily keep my balance. I would have my other dog in a Ruffwear harness too, however he has an issue with harnesses and we're working on desensitisation currently.I initially loved how the Ruffwear harness can be used with a double-ended lead attached to both the D-ring on the back and the front chest loop so as to have more control. But after a very short while of my dog becoming accustomed to the harness, I found I didn't need to use the front loop too. However, for dogs who don't walk well on a loose lead this is invaluable. I still use the harness with my double-ended lead Halti Training Lead BLACK Large but now I clip the lead across my body and sometimes when I want to be pulled uphill I'll clip it around my waist, although I don't do that very often as I don't want to encourage him pulling. The harness is also ideal for securing your dog in the car. I use the long double-ended lead, clipping one end to the D-ring on the harness and the other end to the D-ring in my boot. Although I have a dog guard, it is safer for the dog to be secured like this as well, and it is only possible with a harness because if done using a collar it could be fatal in the event of an accident, a sudden stop, or just becoming twisted from moving around. For extra security when walking, I attach a halti link Halti Link BLACK Large from the front loop of the harness to the D-ring on my dog's collar. I don't think this is really necessary as the harness seems extremely well made and durable but I prefer it for peace of mind.I was unlucky with the first harness I received, which developed fraying at the side of the webbing that holds the D-ring to attach the lead. The harness had never been wet, and it occurred within a few weeks of using it. I don't believe it posed an immediate danger, however if left it would not have been safe. Ruffwear customer service were great and after emailing them pictures of the frayed webbing, they said the harness was faulty, took the serial code and immediately sent a replacement. The fraying has not happened with the second harness I am using now, though it is still early days I am hopeful it won't as these are such highly rated harnesses with problems being rare.

Great harness
I bought this harness after lots of research and thought. I recently rescued a male frenchie who is my world and wanted him to be comfy and smart, this harness is absolutely brilliant, both well designed smart and really easy to use i.e. Getting it on and off a giddy dog who loves going out for his walks. He is a good size French bulldog male weighing 13.8kg and has a chest size of 61cm. But I will say that it's on its last adjustment! So if your dog is bigger then better get a medium. My dog just looks really comfortable in it and when on the lead it does not give him any discomfort (he pulls a bit lol) when it's dirty I just wash it under warm water with mild soap and let it dry near a radiator. The little ID pouch is great too as it stops the tags getting ripped off when out and about. All in all folks can't fault it and the quality and standard of the material is awesome, bit expensive but it will last you for years.

Brilliant harness
Brilliant harness. Very tough and looks good. Love the orange colour.I didn't give 5 stars although not fault of Ruffwear harness design as slightly rubs behind the elbow of my jack Russell, due to her having very little hair in that area. Easy to put on and very secure (can't escape). I ordered size xxs which is perfect fit. Love it! Would recommend.

Simply the best dog harness
We have used a standard collar for over 10 years and recently due to surgery to remove a lump from the neck we had to switch to a harness to avoid the surgical site. We were fairly disappointed with the range available in the local pet store, but plumped for one that was oversized to avoid the site. Our dog was very happy with this and I found it amazing how much more control you have over them, the slightest tension on the line gets his attention. So I set about looking for a more permanent solution. The choices are vast and in so many different designs but after seeing lots of youtube videos decided to go for this one. It is the most sturdy harness I have seen but is also the most padded, so no issue with rubbing, in fact, when correctly adjusted it does not move on the dog at all and there is plenty of clearance behind his front legs. The best way to put this on for the first time is to slacken off all the adjusters and tighten it all up when on the dog. I found it very difficult to loosen the adjusters when on the dog. The ring on the top is very solid, in fact, I would say over engineered, but that adds to the quality feel for this harness. The only downside to this harness is that due to the additional padding it will take a little longer to dry after a wet walk, but I consider this a very small price to pay for such a great harness.

Amazing!
So durable...my dog uses this to pull us ski-joring and cani-cross, and we also use it for regular walks. We finally purchased a second one because the first one was getting kind of scruffy-looking, but it is still completely functional and not a single problem with it (My 45 lb dog is all muscle and can pull a full-grown man up a ski hill). I also really like the loop in the front because she tends to pull less when I attach the lead there (for regular walks). Very adjustable and also kind to her skin - We had a Halti one before that rubbed under her armpits and she got sores.
