Tank rests on valve cover XR650L
I was replacing an IMS 4.0 Gas Tank, that had just yellowed over the decades, and the molding has changed. The original tank provided ample clearance, providing an air gap the engine and the tank. This tank rests on the valve cover on the right side. I'm guessing buyers aren't checking, and don't notice and just ride away. Since I had the older version IMS tank, I saw the difference. There is actually clearance for the valve cover molded in, but it's about 2 inches too far forward.I'll try a different manufacturer this time around, but am using the old tank for now. The new tank was great looking, but I didn't like the idea of the tank rubbing against the hot engine.

Not for my bike.
I have a 2012 XR650L and when I took my old tank off I found that IMS tank brackets and Petcock would ahve to be modifide in order for this to work. The tank was already $245.00 and to get what I needed would cost another $75 to $100 to make this work.I am not willing to spend that much more.I sent it back.
