Erotica with a Message
The main character, Lindsey, is very promiscuous and degrades herself because of what happened when she was twelve years old. There is a lot of acting out sexually, using no protection, and getting herself into compromising and dangerous situations. There is also non-consensual sex and some attempted rape in this story. Lindsey is a very lost girl and feels unloved and worthless, and so she allows men to take advantage of her and to use her. Then she meets a Navy recruiter in the school office (she's a senior in high school) . Zach's a clean-cut black male, handsome in his white uniform, and he looks at Lindsey and sees what many people do not notice. He sees deeper and asks her why she dresses the way she does when she is pretty without the slutty get-up. He is super sweet, gentle and kind. I just wanted to hug Zach. He's 22, protective and very tender towards Lindsey. I loved his character.Zach helps this damaged girl deal with her emotional problems and promises to catch her whenever she 'falls down.' It was an excellent story of a heroine finding her own self worth, learning her own value, and expecting others to treat her with respect and love. It was empowering to read that. This is more than just erotica to me, so much more than just the obvious kinks I might choose it for (the interracial romance element, the non-consensual sex, ménage, young girl/older man, etc.); it's erotic fiction, explicit and, at times, gritty, dark and disturbing in what happens to Lindsey, but it's also well-written and satisfying on many levels.

As unsettling as it was exciting
"Don't worry, dear--a hussy is just a woman with the morals of a man."With the words of her grandmother ringing in her ears, Lindsey shows no shame with her attitude towards sex. "Hussy" is a bit of an old-fashioned word, but it's Lindsey's favorite and she plays it to the hilt. And if you don't believe me, just read the first chapter of this Selena Kitt novella.Lindsey is introduced to us as she leaves her house for the night, lying to her parents about her true destination: a treehouse full of male classmates. What starts out as a drunken romp turns into a pretty intense sex scene with multiple partners, and it doesn't appear to be all that consensual. A gang-rape scene, to put it bluntly. Only it's a sex game, we find out when everyone is spent, orchestrated by Lindsey who revels in the experience after she gets back home. And that's Lindsey's life apparently, until she meets a young army lietenant named Zachary Davis. Unlike the other men in her life, Zachary actually treats her with respect and develops genuine emotions for her, which throws Lindsey for a loop, because she soon develops feelings for him too that go beyond a primal lust. But as she explores this new relationship with Zachary, old habits die hard, and a bit of a reckoning ensues with Lindsey's life, both sexual and personal. After the whole bru-ha-ha that happened last fall with self-published erotica authors, I figured I ought to try a book out and see where the controversy was coming from. Hussy doesn't strike me as the run-of-the-mill erotica book, taking what is apparently a longheld sexual fantasy and almost deconstructing it while simultaneously putting it on full display for the reader. For as much titillation, there is also a disturbing undercurrent. I think if someone picked up this book purely for the salaciousness of reading about a promiscuous young woman and her extreme sexual appetite, that reader would have their escapism thrown right back in their face.Extremes is what this book is all about, though. Lindsey and Zachary start out as such polar opposites that their mutual attraction is nearly as unbelievable as their personalities. Amid the sex and the violence, there is a romance at its heart, which I think is the real draw for the book. It just doesn't resonate quite as well as I think the author intended.

good read
At the begining of the book i t didn't have much of a story line, it was filled with nothing but sex but toward the end the story line actually picked up and was very good.

Love is so real
This was my first interracial romance and I loved it. The main character Lindsey uses sex and her sexy white shorts to hide the pain of being sexually abused by her stepfather at a tender age when young girls are suppose to be crushing on their first crush. For me the story was a page turner and the main characters held my interest throughout. I absolutely loved Zack and Lindsey's first date, what a date that was. The sex scenes were well written as well as the emotional reactions associated with them. I must commend the author for this, they felt like a real sex scene instead of the fantasy sex scenes we normally get.The book was slightly predictable but in a good way and I loved how it ended. Thanks for ending it that way.

I don't get it...
Maybe the author's intentions were good, but this book is absolutely terrible. Lindsey is a HUGE slut, and I found most of her antics disgusting. I never want to read about another pair of "short white shorts." Zack had no character development; just appeared and fell madly in love with Lindsey, who, I might add, changed personalities overnight. Other reviewers wrote about the "suspense" or "twist" in this book, but you can pretty much figure out why Lindsey is the way she is without moving beyond the first chapter. I tried to finish this book, even started skipping around a bit, but I finally deleted it at around the 75% mark. I have read other books by this author, but this book is just awful.

Teen gang rape is too dark for me.
I generally like this author, but I didn't realize that "Dark Romance" meant that large sections of the book would be devoted to the gang-rape of a teen (as titillation).

Scary but fantastic read
Woah! Not gonna lie...at first i was completely shocked with the way this book was headed. But what a brilliant turn around it took. I was completely enthralled and captured with Lindsay's journey through the abuse and her mental state not to mention how she was able to overcome this horrificly tramatic life she was living up until she met Zach.Im gonna be honest...There were cringing moments! The abuse involved was full on, but i felt that without that...it wouldnt have made the romance between Zach and Lindsey as strong as it was.Bravo!! Great read. I couldnt put it down.

A Damaged Soul
Lindsey is a damaged girl who equates sex with attention, something she has craved all her life - she just gets the wrong sort. Until someone comes into her life who treats her differently she had been acting like the town 'Hussy', however then she meets Zach who sees her like no other man ever has. He is kind and patient and can see the damaged girl inside the defiant armour she has built up around herself, and gradually she allows herself to connect with someone probably for the first time in her life. I too preferred the second half of the book, but although the first half was very harsh and graphic it could be seen as necessary to see just how low Lindsey had fallen before she met Zach.

Just so sad what damage can be done by sexual abuse from someone who should care for this young girl, and ignorant boys who don't know the meaning of the word no, and the evil of those horrid men who rape and beat we omen and girl s for sick pleasure, but lovely that this story had a lovely romantic ending.

This is hard
What can I say, that others haven't, I kind of enjoyed the book, apart from the rape scenes,I found that bit very hard to read, and I actually put the book down, as a survivor myself,I didn't think I would be able to carry on, but I did, a bit predictable but then aren't most stories. Definitely not for the faint hearted
