Thorlos Women's Kxw Max Cushion Hiking Crew Socks

Someone recommended this specifically for breaking in doctor martens boots and they were right, I wore my new DMs all day and my feet didn’t hurt at all. At first they might feel kind of tight ‘cause the socks are really thick but about an hour later the boots felt a little bit loose and so comfortable. I got three pairs.My heels and toes are grateful for this socks, I’ll definitely buy again!

I got these for a trip to Chicago-- I'm from the south and figured I better make an attempt at not freezing to death. I also have Raynaud's and am prone to chilblains on my hands (and would prefer not experience them on my feet-- probably would rather freeze to death over that).So! Chicago was down to -2 or so with a windchill of -25.I'm back home-- alive-- and my feet are unscathed! YES!I'm sure the boots I got helped, but aside from those, these socks are ridiculously comfortable-- seriously. I've never had a sock so awesome, nor did I ever think a sock could be "awesome" in the first place. I'm a huge fan of a brand of shoe known for producing the ugliest, but most comfortable, shoes ever (they make nicer shoes too) so I'm used to comfortable feet. My always comfy feet even think these are great. They are thick, but not hot, and really, really soft. They cushion in all the right spots.Seriously, I only took these off to shower the whole time I was there and I wear them around the house to keep my feet toasty, but mostly because they're just so comfortable.I ordered two pairs. One pair came a little frayed, but I didn't have time to exchange them. They still function and I won't hesitate to buy more.

These socks are my favorites! They are nearly as warm as wool, and they wick moisture very well. After 12 hours walking on concrete while wearing boots indoors, my feet are dry! The padded soles are very comfortable. The ribbed crew top stays in place without being tight on my leg. I look forward to using these while hiking this year, also.They are easy to care for. Wash them inside out and use liquid fabric softener. With wool socks, you aren't supposed to use fabric softener. I buy wool socks in lighter colors and Thorlon socks in darker colors to make sorting and washing (correctly) easier.My shoe size is 9.5 in women's, and I ordered the large size. They fit well, probably just as socks are meant to fit. I've been wearing men's 5.11 tactical socks for years because they had the most padding I had found... until now! I'm still getting used to not having extra fabric in the toe box of my boots.These socks are keepers. I raved so much about them that my husband decided to buy some, too.

I bought these for my wife when I saw her darning her old Thorlos (I didn’t know anyone still darned socks). However, I only ordered one pair because things change, and I wanted to make sure these socks were of the very same good quality as her worn-out socks. They are, and I’m ordering five more pair tonight because she’s washed these new ones every night so that she can wear them every day. Comfortable, soft, good-looking, and will last for years. Yes, they’re a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. And you’re on your feet a LOT. I am a serious hiker (AT, the Rockies, etc) and I wear Thorlos. My wife doesn’t hike, but she wants comfortable, quality cushioned socks. I seldom give five stars, but these socks earn every single one of them.

These are very comfortable socks - both for hiking and just for walks with the dog, doing yard work, or hanging around the house.These socks fit well, and stay up - no stretching out excessively or sliding down in my boots, even after a year of wear and many washings.The padding in the socks makes them comfortable and helps to reduce tired feet and blisters, but it's not so thick that it makes my shoes tight or bunches up. I've had some other types of Thorlo socks that have so much padding in the toe area that they've been too fat for my shoes, or the padding has squished up at the sides of my toes and caused uncomfortable rubbing, but that hasn't been a problem with this pair. The toe seams are also comfortable.The reason I'm giving these 4 stars instead of 5 is that the fabric of the thicker heels and toes quickly began to develop pulls. It didn't create any holes - just loops of thread sticking out here and there. I've used a sweater snag tool to pull some of the longer of these pulls back through the socks a few times, to prevent my toes from getting stuck in them (if they were on the inside) or tripping over them and creating worse snags in the sock (when they were on the outside). The socks are still perfectly usable and comfortable - it's just that this has been an ongoing minor mending issue, which is kind of a pain. I think I will try another type when it's time to order more hiking socks.

You know you're in deep when you start buying specialty socks. I've recently graduated from casual hiker status to committed and goal-focused hiker, while preparing for a big hike. There are many different hiking sock options out there, and after spending a somewhat neurotic amount of time researching all those available, decided to give these a shot. Had I known the sheer luxury of spending a few more dollars on Really Good Socks before now, I would have made this jump years ago. These socks are INCREDIBLY COMFORTABLE, and the PERFECT THICKNESS to provide extra padding for very long walks up and down steep hills. Also, I love the color (slate blue). Please note: these socks will only work if your shoes have a little extra space--not too snug. These socks are thick and add at least a 1/4 size to your foot. Added bonus: while wearing these socks, you will feel more at peace with the world, more aligned with the best version of yourself; you will feel more vigor and lightness in your step, the weight of the world will lessen, your skin will glow with a new vitality, and small animals will flock to you and sing songs while perched on the end of your finger. You will wonder to yourself, "how have I lived so long without these socks?" then you will buy them and wonder how you could possible go on living without them.

Product fit perfectly. Padding is great. Quality is good. Just a bit expensive. I was scared that I might get a fake product but thankfully that wasn't the case.
