A cute Christian alternative to modern princess picture books
Overall, the Gigi books fit the bill when filling a void in Christian children's literature. My daughter loves all things princess, but I want her to understand the relationship between being a princess in God's eyes and all the pink frills and tutus. We had the first book in the series "Gigi: God's Little Princess" and I thought it was just adorable, Gigi was endearing and the writing was clever. So we ordered the box set that included the other 3 books. They are written in mostly the same tone with same general plot-- Gigi gets an elaborate idea in her head, faces a problem that brings her to tears, then a resolution where she realizes that God loves her and has given her lots of gifts. I love that the books celebrate being unique and true to yourself, and being faithful and loyal to your friends. Friendship, family, and using one's gifts to honor God are all big themes in the series. I wish some of the writing wasn't quite so predictable, but it is a kid's story after all. Aside from the Gigi in the first book, I felt at times she was a little obnoxious... but that could be from reading it over and over and over again. The books have a lot of text too, so be prepared when reading aloud. I do like the scripture references throughout. Also, buyers should note that these books are hardcover, but they are pretty small and the pages are paper, not a board book. I did not read the description well enough and was under the impression that I was purchasing.4 board books (like our first copy), but they after just smaller hardcovers. Nonetheless, my daughter doesn't mind at all and loves the carry handle on her little Gigi "briefcase".

Perfect π₯°
We got this for my 5 year old daughter for Christmas. She loves Princess Gigi and all of her silly antics. We were having issues with her settling down for bed and bed time and this book was just the answer. It has absoutly beautiful illustrations, which she loves. And she just loves the stories, and as parents we love they arenr stories that last forever. It highlights the value that we all are in God's eyes starting for a young age.Highly recommend.

Great but small
Just so you know they are minis. It was kind of hard for my parents to read who have trouble with small print.

Some illustrations show an "attitude" we could do without
While I like the Christian view in these books, overall I would say that Gigi is very superficial and not the best role model. The text is just okay, but the illustrations almost ruin the point of this series. For example on page 8 in the Royal Tea Party book, Gigi is standing on a dining room chair with her arms crossed looking defiant. Her dad just looks at her amused. Wow, shouldn't he be saying, "Get down princess. It's not safe or good manners to stand on chairs." Well, he doesn't say that. In fact the text doesn't even fit with this illustration of defiance. What was the illustrator thinking? My youngest girl was drawn to that image, and I soon had to explain that little girls who cross their arms and give me a sassy attitude while standing on MY dining room chairs will need to take a time out. Page 10 in The Pink Ballerina book also shows a little boy standing on a chair. In the first book (God's Little Princess) on page 25, Gigi is speaking to her mother with her finger raised up high. I think the illustrator intended her to look "royal," but my two daughters interpreted that as attitude. My 5 year old daughter asked me if the text was "what it really said," because she thought Gigi was being sassy according to the illustration. The text and pictures just don't match up. The only place I was disappointed with the text was in the Purple Ponies book. Gigi's dad commented that it was "impressive" when Gigi kicked her pajamas across the room onto her cat's head. I guess that is suppose to be funny, but I'm trying to teach my girls to be considerate and mindful of their actions. I would not praise my daughter for carelessly kicking her clothes on the floor, let alone hitting an animal in the head. The only reason I gave this series two stars is because there really aren't many Christian based girly books for this age group. I much prefer the Meghan Rose series, but those are geared for children a little older. If you have a child in first grade or higher, try the Meghan Rose books instead. Or read them aloud to your kindergarten girl. She will get a much better message than with Gigi. I really wanted to love these books, but they were a disappointment.

Funny and charming
What a cute set of books with a good message that is subtle yet effective. The stories are cute and funny--they made both me and my 6 yo granddaughter laugh! The important lesson of being a "child of the King" is nicely woven into the fabric of the stories in small bites of scripture that little minds can grasp. The set consists of 4 books--2 pink and 2 white. Each book tells a story in the life of a little girl named Gigi, her friends, and her family. The author did a fine job, and knows how to spin a delightful story.

Instant hit!
I bought this book after my daughter fell in love with Fancy Nancy. Even though I thought Fancy Nancy was a cute story, I wanted to give her another perspective to the "fancy" life, and she instantly loved it! We have taken it on 2 trips in the month since buying it, and it has been great for long car and plane rides. Buying all four books in one really is the way to go. The messages are just so sweet of God not giving up on us, on God choosing us all to be His children (princesses), the importance of kindness, and discovering your gifts. My husband even went out and bought her a stuffed white cat that we call "Lord Fluffy", and she won't let him go! She is almost 2, but I think Gigi will be loved in our house for years!
