This is 3" for two frame joists together, or as a flashing under a support.
This deck tape sticks to the deck frame to reduce rot from moisture and debris that accumulates between the deck boards. This tape is designed to prolong the life of the deck frame.

Pretty good product.
I am re-doing a 22 year old deck, replacing the PT decking with Azek. I bought three rolls of this to put on all the joists. I quickly realized that this would be a very expensive proposition, because the deck is so large. I also saw that most joists did not seem to need any help, even after 22 years. The only ones that were a bit suspicions for rot were the few that wound up being parallel to the decking and therefore filling the cracks between the planks. These cracks catch leaves and dirt, and stay wet for long periods. I also used multiple layers as shim material occasionally, if I had a joist that was a bit low. This seemed to work very well. I also stuck it on the tops of some posts that are below the deck. The product seems very strong, elastic and flexible. However, occasionally the paper tape which covers the adhesive side did not come off in one piece, requiring me to pick at it. Very annoying. This happened even though the product was kept inside, protected, etc. I was using it in weather that was in the 50s and 60s.I will say that where I did use it, the plain black matte looks nice; better than the new wood. There is a competing product that has writing all over it, which would look back on my deck. Having just put it on, I can't speak to how it will last, and I don't know how I will evaluate it over the years, given that it is underneath my very low deck. Still, I like it, and it is a strong quality product that I think I will find other uses for over the years.

Works well
Great for what I used it for, but doesn't adhere well to the sides of boards. On doubles it worked great since it all laysy on the top of the joists, and adheres well, plus will be further held in place wit the decking. On single joists, it would adhere well to the tops, but the excess wouldn't stay adhered to the sides of the joists when folded down. This actually worked well for my purposes since the joists I was putting it on were also part of a roofing system for a room below, and had roofing material between the joists and halfway up the sides(making sort of a "gutter" between the joists.). The inability of the tape to adhere well to the sides of the joists means water will be shed away from the joist sides, reducing potential of it laying at, or penetrating, the "seam" where the roofing material adheres to the joist side.

Works Great
Wish this product was out 20 years ago, I wouldn't have had to replace so much lumber on my deck!

Sticks extremely well even at lower temperatures
The quality of the product met my expectations and performed better than some deck taping I purchased at Home Depot. It had strong adhesive even reaching lower temperatures in the 30s F.

Hard to stick in cool weather
The adhesive does not want to stick in cool (50 degrees F) and damp weather like I had when rebuilding my deck. Otherwise easy to use and good value. I used a wall paper seam roller to help it stick to my joists but it still let go

easy install.
Rebuilding a 2nd floor deck and the wise wrap made it easy to weather strip.

Easy to use, great idea
When we redid our deck last summer, we left the old joists which where in great shape and elected to use this deck flashing tape between the Trex and the joist. It was easy to use and I think it is keeping moisture from going into the old nail holes, but I can't tell for sure without removing the deck surface!
