I got this copper mug not just because it looks great, but because of the many properties of copper. Yes, it's the proper cup for serving a Moscow Mule (recipe below). But there is more to know about this cup before jumping in.First, copper is a great conductor -- much more so than any other metal cup, and tons faster than any ceramic -- so this means that your cold beverage transfers that cold right into your hands. I love this for cold drinks, as the chill transfers right to your hands on a hot day. But note: I wouldn't drink a hot beverage out of this cup, as it would quickly burn my hands.Hot liquids are also to be avoided because heat can accelerate copper breakdown. Even worse in copper cups like this one would be acidic beverages, which react with copper. So no orange juice or margaritas or things like that in this cup.Warm soapy water works just fine for cleaning.Moscow Mule Ingredients:1 half lime4 to 6 ounces ginger beer2 ounces vodka

I received this mug at a promotional price. My mug had several scratches on the outside and bottom of the mug. The scratches didn't bother me though, as they can likely be buffed out. The mug also had 2 deeper scratches where the finish was completely removed (one on the side of the cup near my thumb in the picture, and the other on the bottom of the mug on the right side of the picture). For the promotional price, I can live with the defects; however, at full price I would be unhappy. The mug can in a plastic bag and in a flimsy box. That box was inside the shipping box with other items and lots of pillows of air. I don't believe it was damaged during shipping. There's no country of origin noted.
