BLACKHAWKBLACKHAWK! Shemaugh

I like it
I'm not understanding some of the negative reviews. Some complained about the light fabric. This is not advertised as being protection from extreme cold and wind. It is a perfect size as far as I'm concerned. And the light fabric means it breathes and I can use it in the sun to protect my head and neck. It also keeps some chill and wind out. For extreme cold, I have a heavy balaclava. For what I expected, this is very nice functionally and in appearance and is of good quality. Contrary to what one-star reviewer said, this is NOT bright green. It is in a nice medium green and will blend nicely with a forest or woodsy background. Look at the pictures of it for goodness sake. And many reviews on Youtube show this very model. You won't regret.

It's a good shemaugh at a good price
This shemaug is worth the money. Haven't measured to see if size is exact because it fits great for the 5-6 different ways I know to wear it. If the size isn't exact I bet it's close. Quality is there for sure, read a few complaints about the material being thin. It's a good thickness for a shemaugh, it's not as thick as a wool sweater but I didn't order a wool sweater, I ordered a shemaugh. Color is great, OD and black look like they are supposed to. I have not washed it yet but I will update about the dye washing out or not when i do.Update: color definitely bleeds when washed but I washed with blue jeans and it wasn't a big deal. Color is still good though and I still recommend it.

Dont leave home without one
What can be said about Shemaughs....There uses are many, warmpth when cold, water added cool when hot, anti bug cover, sand, wind cover ,compression, bandages, tourniquet ,sprain wraps, carry firewood, camouflage, gun wraps and the list goes on. Some are woven, some are woven thicker, great for fall/winter outings. Some are made thinner for summer wear. I have purchased many from different companys.Blackhawk is a woven heavier material , quality made. Rothco, 5 star, are less expensive, thinner but still will work fine. Id stay away from the printed shemaughe as they dont hold up as well. When new, hand wash, soak in vineger/ or ice to set the dye. Rinse gently and line dry. they will thicken like a soft tee shirt. I carry one of these in all my survival/outing packs.

One of the best of Shemaugh I have
I wear Shemaugh for more than 20 years. This one is very good but not the best. Quality is good but can have better density, it's warm, average sized. If you are looking for bigger size, softness, and the best density you should think.

Worthwhile purchase
I've never had a shemagh, I picked up this one when shopping for a large bandana (which I also bought.) This is what I can only assume to be an authentic item having never been to the region, but it is what I would have expected in terms of the weave of the fabric being slightly loose and the patterned being woven in rather than printed. It had a very slight odor of dye out of the package and bled color profusely when washed, as one might expect of the authentic item, then dried soft, clean smelling, and airy. I won't oversell this, but I'm happy with mine and would not hesitate to endorse this product.

Best for keeping you cool and protection from the summer sun.
Found a lot of these on Amazon.com with mixed reviews and some cheaper than others but nothing that sold me. I chose this one because I believed BLACKHAWK! products to be very good quality and wasn't disappointed. I'm unsure of the material used and am honestly not too concerned, I've worn plain cotton T-shirts, moisture wicking shirts and even bandannas while working in the hot sun that have given me heat rash with no cooling or protection from the summer heat, but this shemaugh has always kept me cool. I just soak the whole thing in cool tap water and head outside with no worries. This fits and wraps around my neck very easy and I have a large chest and neck with room to spare! Be aware that this should be washed a few times on very delicate cycle so the dye can rinse out otherwise it'll be on you instead.

Get the Coyote Tan/Black version of this Blackhawk Shemagh Instead
Similar to J. Wheels' review, the first time this gets we the color bleeds everywhere. The material is good, and other than the dye, appears to be a good product. Both this and the Coyote Tan/Black shemagh from Blackhawk are from Pakistan, not China as per this product description. The Coyote Tan/Black shemagh barely had any color dye bleed, so if you might ever get your shemagh wet or wash some funk out, get that color instead.

Much better than expected
Knowing I had a big desert MTB race coming up I knew I had to do something to keep the dust out of my face to keep my allergies under control. It occurred to me that maybe the people living in the middle east, both natives and armed forces operatives, must know one thing or two about the hot, dry and very dusty outdoors. This thing really worked for me during the race. It kept my allergies at bay and much to my surprise I didn't feel particularly hot wearing it. As a matter of fact I think it helped to reduce dehydration as I didn't need to drink as much water as I used to. A couple more advantages: it is very light and I didn't feel any restriction to breathe. I followed other reviewers' advice and washed it a couple times before using it. Therefore, I wasn't left with a stained face after the race. It does fade a little bit with the washes but I think it looks better as this is more of a rough/outdoors kind of thing.
