I installed this with a deadbolt on the front door of my rental to prevent inadvertent lockouts by my tenants. The keyed knobs are often problematic because of this reason. The knob is solid and Kwikset confirmed that even it is used on an exterior door there will still be a lifetime finish warranty. Kwikset has quality products and I'm very confident this will be a good value for the long term.

I love Kwikset's Smartkey locks for their ease of setup and ease of re-keying. On top of that, LockPickingLawyer has praised these Smartkey locks in particular for being a bit more difficult to pick than some other mainstream door lock types and brands (not that it stopped him of course... but it gives me a little comfort to know that it can stand up better to at least the average picker).

I first purchased the Kwikset Cameron style door knobs to replace the exterior door locks when moving into my home. I finally decided to replace the interior doors to match. I was very happy with this purchase for several reasons: - frustration free packaging. Easy to open that didn't require a knife or blade - easy to read instructions and visuals - simple installation. you can replace a door knob in 15 minutes or less - comes with a "key" so your little one cannot lock themselves in the bathroom when playing peek-a-boo - clean and simple design that feels sturdyI was also very happy to find these for a lower price on Amazon than from the local big box store.

Ok, so I'm not a handyman. I'm good with technology and even breaking apart technology, not so much this kind of stuff though. But at the same time, it's a door knob with a couple of screws. I've fiddled with installing door knobs NP in the past and even from the same brand. I'm leaning more towards it being my door frame opposed to the knob itself, but I'm not 100% positive. Also leaning more towards the house because over all, seems like the over all construction was poor. Notice a lot of stuff not seeming like it's 100% flush/straight/even throughout the house.I removed my old door knob and when I went to remove the plate from the frame, it seemed like it was going to be a chore, so I opted to just leave it in at first and see if the new one would work with the old, even though it'd be mismatched color wise. It did! I then decided that the color difference would eventually drive me nuts, just knowing it was different and probably never actually seeing/noticing it visually. So I opted to try to remove the old one and it was a chore. The screws weren't necessarily stripped, because I ended up using them still with the new plate, but I did have to hold & pull the plate outwards while unscrewing to get them out.I then proceeded to install the provided plate with the provided screws, NP! Went to shut the door and nothing, not latching! Ended up looking around at all the other doors and realized they were all kinda off set and not flush like was happening with my install. With the provided screws, I couldn't get it to offset enough to get it to latch, always seemed to align perfectly with the inner borders, even if I tried to prevent it. I ended up using the smaller screws that my old plate was using and was able to get it to be offset, which resulted with the door finally latching.Now, the door knob doesn't feel like it's 100% flush as it should be. But again, I think it's more/less the doors fault more than the product because I was able to get more and more flush by chipping away at the inner frame of it. Also pretty neat how you didn't have to totally unscrew the long screws in the door knob, but just hold the base and twist the side with lock (typically inner knob) and it split in 2.I do feel like if I were to try hard enough, the door would probably open and probably end up breaking something. But, I didn't install it to prevent someone from breaking down the door as much as I did just to prevent family from entering the doorway it's on and don't see any of them hulking out on it that it won't do.I'd recommend it, just not sure if I'd personally buy it again for this house. But also, don't see me ever replacing another knob here again because of the troubles I had and if I did, definitely not removing the frame plate! lol

Kwikset lock system is easy to install with the most basic mechanical ability

Used this to replace a worn out Kwikset entry door lock. The key setting function worked perfectly allowing me to rekey the lock to my existing key. I like this Kwikset Cameron so much that I bought 2 more to replace older Kwikset locks on my property.

For the price, it is a very durable and well made door knob. Extremely easy to re-key should you have the need to change keys. Installation is a bit tricky and I had to install it a bit different than the instructions show.

A completely different kwikset door knob was sent instead! Very different than the photo in the description!

Easy to install. Quality workings. Added bonus of keying multiple locks by yourself without re-keying locksmith.
