The opposite effect
Instead of being put off by these 'copper impregnated' mats, the snails treated them like a skate park! You can see all the tracks they left behind on their way to an all-you-can-eat hosta buffet in the picture. But these are actually slightly worse than useless, because when I used them on my strawberry plants, rather than keeping the snails away, the snails used the mats as shelter! I'd lift up a strawberry mat and find 2-3 snails chilling under it, waiting for cooler climes to come out and gorge on some strawbs.I don't know how much copper is 'impregnated' into these mats but it seems like they need another rogering. Maybe copper doesn't even bother snails, I have no idea. But the suggestion of it definitely doesn't. What I do know is that instead of buying something to repel snails, I bought a canopy for snails instead. Cannot recommend these less.

Not very slug proof
Didn't do a great job at protecting strawberries from the slugs as the strawberries are much wider than these discs so they've not been a great addition to my raised bed sadly.

Great for protecting rhubarb.
I purchased these because slugs were eating my rhubarb, put these around the base of each plant and that stopped, I had a great harvest of rhubarb this year.

Sturdy and should last
Very easy to use. I have fastened these down around the trunk/stem of trees and shrubs. They seem very sturdy and I would expect them to be hard wearing and last a long time.

Good value
Helped with straw berries to stay fresh

Sadly didn't work
Slugs just crawled all over them. Followed all instructions, they were the correct side up etc, tried putting triple layer of mats round one plant, slugs still just crawled all over the mats, no deterrent at all. Expensive mistake sadly.

Does exactly what it says!
Nothing pest wise attacked my strawberries or new seedling plants in the ground!! strawberries just lie on it & don't get soggy. Get a-lot of huge circle but easy to cut to size.

Good for cabbages too
Put these around the bases of my brassicas as seedlings, had some old boards to lay between rows to cover soil - covered the whole patch with hooped pipe and fine mesh and left them to it - no weeks, no slugs, no white butterflies, and no need to water.
