needed a large pellet dry dog food with no fillers for my 8-year-old large breed Malamute
I've got a 130-pound, 8-year-old Alaskan Malamute who is not a picky eater BUT he was starting to not fully eating his previous dry dog food (not to mention a particular brand but 'blue' was in the name and it has "LifeSource Bits" in the mix). The biggest issue was the "LifeSource Bits" were really small 'balls' that wound up all over the floor and not eaten -- not sure if he didn't like them, they were too small or too uncomfortable for him to eat. He used to eat the stuff with no problems so I think it must be getting tougher to eat now that he's getting older. My big issue is that I wanted to get some good food for my Malamute that has the right amount of protein, quality ingredients with no unnecessary fillers. Nutro seemed to pass my rigid dog food contents demands. More importantly, my Mal eats this food with gusto (like he used to eat) and is thriving on this stuff. Nutro has a new customer!

My dog's regular kibble
I've been feeding this to my dogs for years and they keep coming back with good health reports from the vet. They seem to like it and are very excited at every meal....but then aren't most dogs like that??? The kibble is also a good size for large dogs, being about the size of a Spree candy. I've seen other brands that say "large breed" but have kibble of questionable size.

Highly recommend!
This is my Chow Chows food, he is 70 lbs of muscle and LOVES this stuff! He is also the worlds biggest baby and HATES bathes like no dog ever. It's so bad, the vet gave us sedatives to bathe him. Needless to say, we don't like traumatizing him so he only gets bathes when he desperately needs them. You may be asking what this has to do with food.. Simple, lamb and rice as a diet keeps him from being stinky.I've tried many foods over the years and had Chows and Sammies my whole life. Hands down, lamb and rice keeps their coats shiny, keeps body odor down and is easy for them to digest.

BLOOD in dog's stools and vomit
I switched to this food because it had everything I was looking for, most especially chondroitin and glucosamine, which I give joint supplements for currentlyI have a Rottweiler/pitbull that I transfered to this food, and a pure Rottweiler puppy on the large breed puppy food. Both had severe diarrhea for 2 weeks on transfer. I thought "it could just be from the food switch" My adult dog stopped having interest in food "he must not like it as much" he started becoming lethargic and less interested in play, and them the next morning he retched and threw up foamy pink blood. Scheduled a vet appt, switched him back to normal food. Vet 2 days later, can't find any infection or abnormalities in his blood work, but slight dehydration and heightened white blood cells meant his system was upset, but with no identified cause. Continued feeding old food for a week, he was hungry and playing again like normal. I tried the switch again, doing it in even smaller increments this time. More diarrhea, and then 3 days in he's super constipated, and when he finally went, it was diarrhea and grass and blood. He was only getting better on his old food. Switched back and will NEVER buy this again.I had such a high hopes, and made multiple attempts and gave it every chance, but it put my dogs health at risk and that's not a risk I'm willing to take
