It's a well made product and I like the idea of saving money with a reusable item, but when we had our HVAC system serviced soon after purchasing this filter, we were scolded by the technician for using it. He explained how it was clearly putting an extra burden on the system and then demonstrated the difference in the sound of the air handler motor with and without the filter, which would reduce the life expectancy of our expensive Trane. The ad says "excellent air flow," but that just wasn't true for our system. This filter is merv 11. Our tech recommends no greater than 7 for our system. Ask your service tech before you drop 45 bucks on a filter.

I purchased two of these filters for my home. I figured I could replace them on a rotation type system. I always have a clean filter when it’s time to clean the filter that is installed. We have used our first filter for one month. I could have left it in longer, but we have four kids and a dog. I figured it’s probably time for the first cleaning. It is in fact very easy to clean which is a huge plus.I figured with the upfront cost it would take about two years for this product to pay for itself, but I neglected to account for the fact that we typically leave our filter in about a month longer than we should. So, by my estimation it will take a little over a year to pay for its self. A huge benefit of this product is that we will always have a clean filter. This increases the lifespan of our furnace and decreases our allergies.Overall, I am very happy with this product. It seems very durable and seems to do a very good job of filtering. Highly recommend if you are like me. I’m always looking for ways to save money and I don’t mind some upfront cost if it means I save money in the long run.

I've been a longtime fan of the quality and fit of K&N products, however this filter is the exception. It was purchased to replace our motorhomes 35,000 BTU basement forced air heating/air conditioner unit. The fit was good however immediately after installing the filter, our system began automatically shutting off, which it had never done before.We had the system inspected and the technician immediately diagnosed the issue as being directly related to the the K&N filter due to its heavy construction and metallic frame, noting that it was causing stress on the system as the airflow was being restricted due to the makeup of this filter. We replaced the filter with a Honeywell Honeywell Elite Allergen Pleated MERV 13 - FPR 10 Air Filter and the issue immediately resolved and we have not had any issues thereafter.I contacted K&N customer service with the above listed information several times and have never received a response from them. Very disappointing as a long time customer.

These where on sale 30% off so figured worth the investment for 3 of them and amazon has excellent return policy so if no good will simply return…I think these are very well made and heavy duty. I see no issues with airflow in my system even though they are merv11 rated which means they will capture more fine particulate etc and expedia lay good if you have pets. They are a little heavy to install and that would not be a huge deal if they fit but as many have suggested they do run a little small…I am thinking it’s so they fit most openings but really makes it a pain when installing in a ceilings…hopefully I can install some weather stripping on the edges to make for a better fit…that all said they seem to be an excellent option and no more wasting money on disposable ones!

Very excited about this filter and what we can save in the future. I bought the 14x20x1; it's a little smaller than the other filters we've purchased. That said it fits, but there is more wiggle room than I expected. I hope air doesn't go around the filter. i think most of it will run threw the filter. You will have to hold it in place to close the vent. It might be that it is heavier than previous filters or that it is smaller and doesn't have the friction to hold it more firmly in the return or a combination of the two.

Seems like it's well made, but is definitely more restrictive than disposable MERV 11 filters.It's also about 1/4" shorter in each direction than a disposable, so it falls out of my overhead return. I had to wrap the edges in weather stripping to get it to fit properly.

I use K&N filters in every vehicle I own and have always been amazed by their performance and the ability to clean and re-use the filters. I was not aware that they made filters for furnaces or for home use so I am so thrilled to have the same protection and performance for my HVAC.

I have been buying K&N filters for my cars for years so When I saw they had a HVAV filter I didnt hesitate to order them.Just received them and they are outstanding.They fit perfect into my return that is 14x20x1.No space at allow the sides perfect fit.Now if i can just locate the K&N hvac cleaner 99-6010 I would be set.Please Amazon carry it again!
