The description clearly said this would fit a variety of post sizes, including 4", which is what we have. The base of the unit is 5", so would fit that exactly with no adaptors. There was a 4 1/2" adaptor, and a smaller adaptor for a 3 1/2" post. I looked in the installation manual and it again said a 4" adaptor, so I looked at the other one in the set and it had the same adaptors - none for a 4" post. So we ended up using the 4 1/2" adaptor so it has a 1/4" gap on each side, and put some of the styrofoam packing material in it and used longer screws to keep it tight. The light it gives off is nice though - it's at the bottom of our porch steps so it helps immensely with visibility.

After trying other 4 x 4 inch solar lights that just didn't fit right, this one was perfect. Inside the cap there is a plastic piece that allows for adjustment if you need it to fit slightly or smaller or larger. The lights look pretty at night on our back deck and front porch.

The information on what these fit is misleading. These will NOT fit 4 inch vinyl posts, I had to modify the base in order for these to fit. You can do almost anything with a Dremel.

they completely stopped working and i can’t return them. they have been in use for only 15 days. i ordered them 35 days ago. about that time. Garbage. the first few days i was so happy and in awe. now they stopped. i orders more than 1 too. my backyard gets a lot of sun so there is no reason for them not to be working with the batteries provided. plastic garbage that i am now stuck with. if you buy them test out first by placing them near a window. you will see the first few days they will work and then boom the light slowly dims to nothing

They have been in use for over 6 months so far and still working well. Are they the brightest, for sure no, but for the price, they do well, just enough light so see where to go and to open the gate. My posts are 5x5 and these fit nice and snug on the post so I didn't need to use the screws. The little solar panel on the top doesn't look good, has a white coating/film over it but so far they are still charging. Will update after 1 year passes.

I just installed these lights this morning. I read a couple of reviews that said they wont fit a 4x4 post. Dont know what that's about. The first one went on with no problem. The second one needed a little work because my 4x4 was slightly twisted (thanks Lowes). I took the 4x4 adapter out of the light assembly, slid that on top of the piston first and then mounted the rest of the assembly and there was no problem. Cant say how long these will last as I just installed them today, but I had no problems fitting them on a 4x4. I guess if my 4x4 was more warped that what it was I would have just sanded it a little until it would fit

I love these lights! They a bright, but not overly bright. They're just right. Easy to install, and I did not need any adapters, because I have 5 by 5 posts.Where most people would knock off a star or two because of the charge, I'm not going to. I'm not going to, because it is the middle of December, in Iowa! The days are short, so it doesn't allow for too many hours of charging. So I will not take away any stars for that.The only problem is, I wish I had 10 more fence posts so I could add some more. If you're looking for lights for your fence post, I highly recommend these. Without a doubt, I would certainly purchase these again.

The light from these fixtures is very dim. I have them installed on gate posts and they do virtually nothing to illuminate the area around the gate. Construction quality also feel pretty cheap, so I don't have much confidence in their longevity. On the plus side, the light remains on (although a bit dimmer) after about 10 hours of activation.EDIT: After about 5 months of use they are still working well, though still a bit dimmer than I'd like, so I'm adding one star.
