The Stand: The Complete and Uncut Edition by Stephen King (1990-05-01)

What drivel
I understood that the author originally published a shorter version at the behest of his publisher and later unleashed this beast on the world. I've long-time friends who are big fans, so I thought a long book about a pandemic, during a pandemic might be just the right read. A few people survive a medical holocaust, some are good, some follow bad for a while, a pyromaniac gets sodomized, and the dumb become leaders. No real message, no enduring philosophy or thought to make all those words worth reading. Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy, Mahfouz, Hemingway - not to worry, no literary competition here.

And then, it happened.
I enjoyed the extras! This is my favorite King book.

First rate, impressive hardcover book! Quoting my nephew!
I purchased this for my nephew. He had the paperback, it was destroyed by the flood. I have had him come to my house to do chores, and I always get him something. When he asked for Tom Clancy’s “The Stand”, he asked for the paperback because of cost. I decided to surprise him and got the hardcover. When he received it he called me and said that it was “A first rate, impressive hardcover book”. He went on to tell me that it was beautiful and that it was the one with ‘everything in it’. I took that to mean that it was complete, without any of the editing found in some editions. If you, or someone you know is a fan of this book, get it.I think this is the best gift I ever gave my nephew!

Darn you, product managers
I have spent a large part of the past decade trying to hide my obsessive hoarding of books inside my kindle. I don't want my world to see how enormous my yet-to-read pile is. I have, every year or so, tried to Kondo the heck out of my physical book collection. I was winning the battle, and my local library was reaping the rewards from my annual donations. I have only kept a few dozen with unique covers, or ones I want to lend or re-visit. Others, I'd get rid of or purchase for my kindle. Then I watched the recent miniseries of The Stand and decided I had to re-read. Went to Amazon, and saw this iteration. Whomever in product management made the decision to market the King lineup with matchy-matchy jacket covers? Genius. Because now I'm donating the Kings I still had in physical form so that I can display these.Darn you, PMs. Darn you. I am now middle aged, and should be in the purge phase of my life. I don't need a new hardcover library. But I want one. And now I am one book closer to rebuilding one...

Excellent book, excellent seller
A mistake was made in the tracking number so I thought the book was delivered to the wrong person. The seller (CozyShades) responded immediately and offered a few different solutions. I opted just to wait a while longer. The book arrived the next day in excellent condition. The book is of good quality and is as advertised. It is to be a part of my Grandsons Steven King library.

This is the ONE
What can I say that already hasn't been said? This is the pinnacle, the top of the heap, numero uno. Sinister, yet innocent. Apocalyptic but hopeful. Read slowly and enjoy.

Complete and incut version of The Stand hardcover, umm yes plz
Read the paper back version. Gave it to my sister-inlaw. Saw this, had to buy it. Slight cover damage, most likely happened during shipping as there wasn't any packing material. But a must read for any Stephen King fan.

It is The Stand. What else is there to say?
My favorite book of all time. Lost my orginal version in a basement flood. So happy to have a new one.
