Big Little Lies: Seasons 1-2 [DVD] [2017] [2019]

There is a stellar cast, acting their socks off but I just didn't get why they bothered. The story line was so strung out. To me it could have been done in about an hour and a half, a three x one hour mini series tops. I have no idea why anyone thought this needed 2 series. I just kept waiting for it to get better but I didn't care about the ending and resented the time it took to get there.

After reading the book I was looking forward to watching the series but I was hugely disappointed. Losing the subtlety of the book, I felt that the characters and the script had been changed substantially. I felt there was no need for the sexually explicit scenes to emphasise the abuse - the abuse was obvious without recourse to that. Also I felt that the offensive language was over the top especially as children were present in many of the scenes. With such great actors involved I would have thought that the 'Me too' agenda might have modified the content. There was one thing that I enjoyed though - and that was the beautiful Californian scenery - much as I imagined the Australian scenery would have been in the book.

This has to be one of the best series I have ever seen. Great story told in a unusual way with a brilliant twist at the end (series one) with a second series just as good. Top quality production and first class acting from all involved even the children.

Fantastic Season 1, little slower paced Season 2 but ends leading into a hopefully excellent Season 3, the opportunity is there.Good writing, good acting and several hotties, very good series and well worth a watch.

I was recommended this and totally love it. Some big names that I love anyway but a great story line keeps you hooked. I blitzed it in about 4-5 days home alone in lockdown and can't wait for series 3 when/if it comes. It's a big desperate housewives, but more suburban and a proper story line. Really enjoyed it, totally recommend.

So refreshing to see an essentially all female cast, and what a cast it is! Great performances by all and genuinely engaging characters and a dark but all too real plot make this a must see.If I had to make a criticism it would be that it did feel like Meryl Streep was gatecrashing the 2nd series to get on board with the issues and her character does grate, but suppose its meant to.

Wanted this to keep going, every episode was enthralling. They must bring out a third episode. Stellar cast from young to old, difficult issues dealt with so well, such a brilliant insight into life. Five strong female leads, unusual, tackling elements difficult to discuss, but worked perfectly. Soundtrack is one you will want to upload. Please make series 3.
