12"x48" Climbing Pegboard

This is a well made pegboard, which met my expectations. Be aware installation requires some planning and considerations when mounting vertically on a stud wall as you will need a mounting surface. I knew this and preinstalled a 2’ x 4’ double up 3/4” plywood base to the studs, and the pegboard to this base using T30 SPAX screws. I actually believe they sell the same pegboard with an extended mounting board to simplify vertical installation, but at a higher price point. My installation extends it from the wall an extra 1.5 inches which I believe makes climbing easier allowing more room for your dangling feet.I was originally concerned that The peg holes went completely through, ie, the dowel pegs would reach to the wall, and since by design the mount extends from the wall this would be a problem —however, it works perfectly as designed.Climbing vertically is a good challenge. The dowels fit is secure adding to the challenge, but, providing, sturdiness and confidence the dowels will not slip out.I will likely buy another one and mount it horizontally to add more climbing variety.

The board itself and construction is solid. Sanded very nicely and very well finished. The 2 panels are perfectly bonded. I can't imagine this ever having problems as far as function and structure goes unless someone installs it outside.My complaint and admittedly I should have looked at the dimensions better, but it's slightly under 48in, which makes stud mounting in normal 16in studs impossible. Would have been really nice and convenient for the mounting holes to be 48in so it can be immediately horizontally mounted into standard wall studs. I do realize this may present a major materials problem since plywood sheets don't come in ~52in widths as would be required to get an extra few inches to have enough room for holes.Anyway, not deducting any rating. It's a super high quality design and construction, just pointing out you're going to need some additional support / structure for attaching it to a studded wall.

Very well made! Wasn't wide enough to secure to studs but was able to engineer a way to make it work.

(Updated below)I was excited to purchase this, especially because it was American Made. This is a solid climbing board, however, the dowels are not. They seem to be too soft, my children 9 & 11 have only had it up a couple of weeks and already the dowels are bent and slipping out as they attempt to use it. No adults have been on it but it should hold adult weight as well. Not sure what happens but need new stronger dowels...my daughter doesn't want to use it as she is afraid since they keep slipping out. If they can solve this problem, I'd give it a 5 star.UPDATE: After contacting the company they sent me a complimentary replacement set of OAK dowels that have thus far (2 more months) held up okay. Hopefully these continue to be strong enough. I understand that they now sell a board with "feet" so that they dowels can go in further which might help the issue. In any case, wish the stronger Oak dowels were part of the original package.

Looks nice but the pegs fit so tight in the holes I am forced to sand pegs or holes out so they don’t get stuck
