PardubaTrumpet Mouthpiece (PARTP55HJ)

If you like to play jazz, this is a good mouthpiece. If you're already playing trumpet, you know that shallow mouthpieces make the high notes a little easier, BUT the shallowness hurts the low notes. This mouthpiece is like two mouthpieces in one. The main cup is shallow. In the inner portion of the shallow cut-out, there is a deeper cut-out. Two cups in one. Low notes are fine and high notes are easier. New technology? No. Harry James discovered this mouthpiece sometime in the late 1930's and switched to it. This is the Harry James model. If you don't know who Harry James was, you're younger than me and you missed hearing a great trumpeter. Look up his music and get some. He was the world's best Swing and Jazz man EVER. If you are a trumpet player that plays only classical music, you don't need this mouthpiece. It makes a BRIGHT tone and you like a DARK tone. If you're in school and need help with high notes, this could help, but your tone WILL change. It will be brighter.I own two trumpets, and forgot that my HJ Mouthpiece was in the other trumpet case. Had to play without it. Sure, I can, but I missed the Parduba. To avoid this in the future, I ordered a SECOND Parduba HJ mouthpiece. If you decide to try one of these, remember that no mouthpiece is perfect and no mouthpiece is for EVERYONE. If you play classical music all the time, you probably don't want a Parduba. On the other hand, if you play jazz and other non-classical styles, you'll want to try a Parduba. If you don't know who Harry James was, you may not care. If you want to find out some features you never heard of before, try a Parduba. If you're an adventurous classical player, take a walk on "The Wild Side" and try a Parduba.

Haven't had this mouthpiece very long, but so far it is working out great. If it was good enough for Harry James, it has to be good enough for me.

sweet rich tones

To me this is the perfect mouthpiece. Once you get the right size for you, you will find a mouthpiece that allows you to not only handle the low notes but find those high notes with an ease you never expected. The one warning....this mouthpiece is sentative so don't over blow. I use one on a Flugelhorn and I can reach the higher notes with no strain whatsoever. You gotta really love a product that actually does what they claim!
