Best of the Series
I was introduced to Christopher by a friend about two years ago. I found his books witty and a light relaxing read. Bite Me is the third in a vampire series. There's no sparkling to speak of, thankfully. While he adds his own quirks to the vampire myth, he doesn't crap on it either. The last one in this series, You Suck, seemed to crawl along but the humor I expect from Moore was lacking. Not so in the third installment. In fact, it's the one that had me laughing the most out of the three. In You Suck, I thought the character of Abby Normal was annoying as hell. I cringed a little when I saw her little eyeliner memoirs were a focus in the book. After the fifth or sixth `Kayso, he hooked me. It worked. Her `tragic' storytelling and quips like `penis port' were classic. I mean really... I've never thought to use that! Genius! It just flowed a lot better than the last book. The skinny of the book is that Jared, the EMO rat boy, lets out Jody from the bronze statue she and Tommy were trapped in. Abby tries and succeeds in turning herself into a vampire using vampire rat blood from her boy toy Foo Dog Steve... and grows a tail because of it. Chet the cat wrecks havoc on the homeless and ho population as a vampire cat. Yes, lots of vampire animals which in itself made me giggle. Cavuto and Rivera also make their appearance along with the Emperor of San Francisco and his trusty doggie side kicks. Let's not forget the Animals. All these characters must battle the legions of vampire cats Chet has made in his quest to fornicate and feast. While the book was all over the place as the characters made their appearances, it didn't lose any of the impact or pace. I think if it was told in the eyes of Abby Normal the whole way through it would have gotten to the point of wanting to reach in the book and choke the life out of the character. How her journal is woven in the story gives you just enough to be aghast that there just might be a girl out there like her. When the other vampires show up, I don`t even bat an eye when they get the superiority complex and don't call for backup. For me it's like the classic villain that tells the hero their plan before failing to kill said hero then dying themselves. Loved it.In the end Moore wraps up all the loose ends, Abby and Tommy become human again and Jody leaves on a ship called the Raven. The same ship the fated dead vampires showed up to take care of the vampire cats. All they managed was to almost get a love poke from Chet.As much as I like to find something wrong with a book, I have nothing save the wrap up at the end. It's almost like Moore hedged on whether to keep it open for another book. Whether that's the case or not, this book is a good high note for me.Gay Linebacker Crunch. Need I say more?

Rocked my stripy socks!
After reading Moore's previous book, You Suck, I was left wanting more Abby...and he delivers more Abby than I ever dreamed in Bite Me!The fast quipping, sassy, perky Goth takes center stage in this 3rd novel of the Bloodsucking Fiends series as she and her manga-haired love monkey, Foo battle a giant, shaved, vampire cat bent on sucking the city dry. Before the final battle Abby will have to enlist the aid of many other characters from the previous novels, such as the Animals (a gang of slacker grocery stockers/vampire hunters), the reluctantly helpful cops Cavuto & Rivera, the not-so-crazed self-titled Emperor & his loyal court of dogs, and her betrayed 'masters' Tommy & Jody.As expected in a Christopher Moore novel, the humor is plentiful, fast-paced and highly imaginative. He creates a unique world where the ridiculous seems not only probably, but likely. And the characters come alive, whether they're undead, furry, or both!Under the surface of the wacky adventure is a maturity in both character development and storytelling. Many reviewers have noted the different 'feel' of this book. It's definitely the most 'traditional' story of the 3 in the series and is the most polished in terms of editing. But this works as our characters have also matured and polished over the course of the story. While the ending may not be what many readers expected, it just goes to show that you can never predict where Moore is going to take you on this journey. Hopefully it's not over yet!Kayso, til next time, stay true and stuff.

The best of Moore's vampire series
Abby Normal and her boyfriend (also known as the manga-haired love monkey) have sealed Jodie and Tommy in bronze. You see, they are both vampires and to save them from breaking up, killing people, or being killed by two police officers, Cavuto and Rivera, that are after them. Everything isn't all roses and rainbows now that they are out of the way. Chet the bald vampire cat is wreaking havoc all over San Francisco, indiscriminately eating the homeless and changing over more and more cats. This cat horde is getting ridiculously large and out of control and it's up to Abby, the manga-haired love monkey, Cavuto, and Rivera to stop them before they eat everyone in San Francisco. Can they do this in time or will they perish to the fuzzy little vampires?Christopher Moore's books are always guaranteed to make you laugh with his quirky, irreverent brand of humor. For me, the Bloodsucking Fiends series was always okay, but not as good as most of his other novels. I preferred the Pine Cove books. Bite Me far surpasses the rest of the series. It manages to be really funny while also being genuinely dark and suspenseful. These two things seem to be opposing qualities, but Moore manages to combine them fluidly. I never thought that a swarm of vampire cats could actually be made scary. The very concept is simply ridiculous, but it's actually menacing and kind of funny at the same time. This is one of the best horror comedies that I've ever read.In Moore's books, the characters always have clear voices and are instantly recognizable. This book is no different. Most of it is in Abby Normal's point of view, a girl who is part valley girl and part goth minion. She has a way of speaking that I would find completely annoying in a real person, but it somehow comes off as endearing. Her thought processes are a little weird and especially illogical to her poor boyfriend, but that's what really makes her narrative special. The only criticism of her part was when she said "kayso," which was a huge amount, I thought of queso. Other than that, I really enjoyed it. Abby and the other characters seem much more fleshed out in this novel and go through more character development than in previous books. When the point of view is passed to another character, the voice is immediately established and there is never any confusion about who is narrating.Bite Me is easily the best in Moore's vampire series. It features a colorful cast of characters that have their own unique personalities and voices. I would recommend this horror comedy to those with a sense of humor.

I hope there's a fourth sequel some day...
Vampire cats; vampire rats; our favourite creepy clown girl; and other assorted "animals". Toss in a ninja and a couple of love stories - what more could we ask for. A masterpiece of mayhem and monkey love.

Bloody good fun
Christopher Moore's sense of humor has always appealed to me and this one does not let me down. His characters are always off beat/quirky/crazy and the situations that they get themselves into are always funny,a shaved vampire cat is a good example of this as it gains some more than normal intelligence. I'd suggest getting the first book in this trilogy 'Blood Sucking fiends' otherwise this book will not make much sense to a newcomer. After that try his others; they won't let you down.
