Sailor Refills Jentle Black 50 ml Bottled Ink - 13-1000-220

I recently began using a Sailor fountain pen that was a gift from my mother-in-law back in the early 1980's. The pen is beautiful and feels wonderful in the hand, but I was never able to use it because I did not know where to find ink cartridges for it. Fast forward to today and finding the cartridges on the internet was easy. I didn't know the history of the Sailor pen company, but I found out they have been making pens for a very long time, and they make excellent pens. They also sell not just the correct cartridges, but they make their own ink. I started with the cartridges and loved the ink so much I decided to buy a jar of their ink. I now refill my own cartridges and like so many other fountain pens you can buy inserts that you fill with bulk ink. This is one of the best inks I have ever used, and if you enjoy using a fountain pen, using a Sailor pen with Sailor ink is a true pleasure. It writes smoothly, with a flow that makes the nib float across the page. It dries quickly and looks beautiful on the page. Using ball point pens are fine for quickly filling out forms, etc., but I write reports and going back to using a fountain pen with quality ink has made it a pleasant thing to do. Although I received another version (bottle) than the reservoir ink bottle, the ink is totally what I expected.

Well lubricated and smooth black ink with a dark olive green backcolor using F nib on Sailor. Very nice but definitely not pure black. If you like black with some color tones, you might really like Sailor Shigure which is a super dark purple just a tiny bit away from a pure black.

This is an excellent fountain pen ink (although not waterproof or even water resistant like some of the Noodlers and others. However, I can buy better ink for about the same price anywhere. I bought this ink because it is advertised as "Sailor Jentle reservoir Black Ink Bottle." Apparently the Skrip ink we used to purchase, which came in a bottle with a reservoir near the top molded in, so you could fill the fountain pen without sticking the pen all the way into the bottle when the ink got low, is no longer marketed. I need a bottle with the reservoir to fill my fountain pens, so I would not make a mess when trying to fill my fountain pens when the ink got low. (I was going to dump the non water resistant ink and put in "Noodlers bulletproof" ink. or better, perhaps a waterproof "archival" ink Despite the advertising, that was the basis for my purchase, there is NO reservoir in either of the two bottles I purchased with this order nearly a month ago (just arrived). So I am out $20+ . And, while I appreciate the seller hiring an army of open ocean swimmers, who swam non-stop 24/7 in relays ) to get these 2 reservoir bottles across the Pacific within 40 days, there is no coupon for return postage, and I can't afford to hire my own army of open ocean swimmers to return these bottles of ink, which are NOT by any means as advertised.

Nice lightened black, but it does not flow very well in my fine nib pen. I have a Pilot Prera, and this ink just does not flow well in it with a con-50 converter. Frequently, I have line breaks and a scratchy unlubricated nib. This is also writing on lesser paper. I'll try on Rhodia to see if it gives me different results. Pilot and Noodler's inks work well in this pen, though. My Regal has a medium nib, and it writes well with this ink, and doesn't have any of the aforementioned problems that the Prera does.

good stuff, what more can you say about ink. It came earlier then expected, packaged really well and the ink itself is amazing. I don't think I can use another ink brand after using sailor.

I have used Sailor fountain pens for several years. My "go to" ink was always Aurora. Last year, I visited a fountain pen show and learned of the Sailor Jentle ink. It has outstanding flow characteristics and less than normal clotting. Clogging the nibs over time is to be expected and I ultrasonic clean my nibs regularly.

It is really good. Very well behaved.

オーソドックスな真っ黒かと思い購入しましたが、青緑系の黒ですね。インクが濃い所やB以上のペン先で書いた所は確かに真っ黒になりますが、FからM程度のペン先で書くとやや青緑がかった色味に見えます。インクフローは非常によく、割と粘度のあるインクですがヌラヌラ書ける感じが気に入っています。海外のフローの渋めのブラックインクに不満のある方にはおすすめのブラックインクかなと思います。パイロットの(普通の)ブラックは本当の真っ黒でしたが、セーラーのジェントルは色の変化を味わえる面白い黒だと思います。耐水性は結構優秀ですが、黒の色素は流れ易く、黒染料が流れた後にブルー系のインクが残ります。そう言う意味ではパーカーのブラックに似ていますね。手持ちのモンブラン、ペリカンとの比較も参考になれば…(ちょっと判りづらいかもしれませんが)セーラープロフィット21・Mニブでコクヨキャンパスノートに書いています。
