Our feet sweat up to ½ a pint per day and every step we take squeezes the sweat and germs from our socks into our shoes and feet. This sweat causes your shoes to become breeding grounds for the fungus and bacteria that cause toenail fungus, athlete's foot, and odor. Our shoes are the only article of clothing that we do not clean, and the SteriShoe ultraviolet shoe sanitizer changes that. Using germicidal ultraviolet light (UVC) to sanitize shoes, the SteriShoe is the only clinically proven way to sanitize shoes. It is doctor recommended and the SteriShoe sanitizer was even awarded a Seal of Acceptance from the American Podiatric Medical Association. In 45 minutes, it kills up to 99.9% of the germs in your shoes. UVC works when there is direct exposure to microorganisms; even clear plastic will block its effectiveness so the SteriShoe sanitizer is designed to not block the UVC light. You should not look at UVC light so the SteriShoe sanitizer has safety features that prevent it from working when it is not inside a shoe. UVC has been used for decades to disinfect air and surfaces in hospitals and in water treatment systems to make water safe to drink. An article in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology stated “it appears to me almost futile to attempt to treat a patient's feet without doing something about his shoes, which…serve as potential reservoirs of reinfection.” The SteriShoe sanitizer is therefore designed for people who have athlete's foot (tinea pedis), toenail fungus (onychomycosis), diabetes, chronic shoe odor, and people who are concerned about general hygiene. The SteriShoe sanitizer is the only shoe sanitizer accepted by the American Podiatric Medical Association.

Odor & Germ Free, that's Me!
I thought that it might be a little complicated when I first ordered this product. However, it turned out to be so quick and simple to use. Each morning I follow this routine: #1. place a sanitizer inside each of my shoes. #2. place each shoe into it's own little purple sanitizing bag and pull the drawstring tight to close it. #3. Press the little button on each shoe to start sanitizing #4. I now have 45 minutes before the sanitizers are done and turn themselves off. I use this time to bathe and get ready for the day. #5. I feel good about myself when I put on my sanitized shoes, which are now odor free and no worry about fungus or germs. WOW, I am proud of myself for buying this great product. I rated this a five star only because it is well worth the money I paid for it. I highly recommend it to everybody. :)

Bulb Error on First Use + Update
***Update 7/23/13*** My faith in courteous and kind customer service has been restored. Bottom Line a supervisor approved the warranty replacement of the defective bulb and this person could not have been more helpful. Thank you!! I will update stars to 4 for now and edit when I have tried the product a few times. Cheers!!Received in Mid May and used first in Mid July (vacations and such). Really!!!! The bulb on the left "shoe" started flashing the error message for "replace me". Ok...I checked the manual; said to interchange bulbs to make sure that it is indeed the bulb and not something else. I did this with a soft clean cloth as recommended and received the same flashing error on the other "shoe". Amazon has a 30 day return on this so I called the company and was immediately told that the only warranty the bulbs for 60 days and they would be "HAPPY" to send out another for $11.95 plus shipping. Indeed!!! Purchase this at your own risk and have fun buying new $12 bulbs every 30 days.

Unreliable
I got the SteriShoe in hopes that the smell from my long 12-hour shifts at work could be prevented. I don't normally have a foot odor or fungus problem, but with my sweaty feet stuck in my work shoes for so long, I was desperate enough to try such an expensive product to get rid of the smell. While the lamps seemed to function properly for a couple of weeks, the indicator lights then started to flash. According to the instruction manual, the blinking pattern I was seeing indicated that the bulbs were not properly inserted, and the lamps would not turn on until they were in right. I screwed them back in and switched them between the lamps as the manual suggested over and over. The lamps would start to work fine, and then the indicator would start flashing again. Finally, nothing I did could get them to turn on again. I didn't have them long enough to even know if they were helping with the smell, but I'm now returning them. If the problem was new bulbs were needed, there's no way I'm going to mess with that since I just bought them, and both were malfunctioning.Overall, they did not work for me, and I regret my purchase. I'm still looking for something good for shoe smell, so I may try another brand.

Your shoes are sterilized and ready sir
I recently had the laser toenail fungus removal treatment dealy done to my toes, and was then recommended to either get this or spray Lysol or the shoe spray they use at bowling alleys, into my shoes every night. At first I tried the Lysol and quickly decided I didn't want to have to do that every night because of the smell and also because then you are supposed to wait 48 hours to wear the shoes!Anyhow, I opted for the SteriShoe. It seems a bit pricey up front, but it does seem like a pretty solid product.I can't honestly say if it is killing fungus or not, but it does work as described in terms of fitting in my shoes nice and snug and staying on for the appropriate amount of time (around 45 minutes). I can safely say it has eliminated any smell from my shoes, including my workout shoes, which get worn about 6 times a week.If I had one negative thing to say about it, it would be that it would be cool if it spoke to you when it was done... Something like "Your shoes are sterilized and ready sir", in a sexy female robot voice. But I'm sure that would make the price jump way up and would annoy some people. And then some people would want a sexy male robot voice, and then you would have to make more versions of it.Ok. On second thought that is a bad idea.It is perfect the way it is!
