Their instructions about sizing are realistic
My feet are 15 Wide, and my son gave me a set of the Extra Large for Christmas. He did that because my prior experience has been that Extra Large socks, generally advertised as 12-15, usually stop about size 13, especially after they are washed. Not these! They are still a little long after washing, but I can position the heels, and they stay put...don't slip and gather where they're not wanted. These Larges fit perfectly, and I expect them to continue to do so after their first wash. Warm! They aren't as thick as others I have had, but keep my feet comfortable worn as house slippers. In boots or shoes in the snow they are very warm and comfortable. So far, definitely worth the price!5/18/2024 A bit of an update...After wearing the socks through the cold months, I like them, but both the large and XL are diffiucult to put on. Even the Extra Larges are a bit tight, and I have to roll them on and position the heels, or, like another reviewer, they are up the back of my leg, although not as far as his. A little looser wouldn't hurt either size. But...I still like them, and the fact they are made in the USA.

Great sock / runs big
These are a well constructed sock that live up to their name. They indeed a very comfy loose fitting sock that really does stay up! They would have received 5 stars but the length of the foot part of the sock is too long in comparison to the length of the calf. Where the heel is intended to be actually goes 3 or 4 inches past the heel and up the back of my leg. In spite of that, they are still super comfy and yes, they stay up!

Warm and soft
Bought these as a gift for my 90-year-old father whose feet are always cold. This is the first time he said the socks are actually making a huge difference. They’re warm but soft his his delicate skin. He already told me he wants more for Christmas

heel is wrong, and unless you have skinny little calves, you must upsize
The reason no sock manufacture with thousands of reviews on a sock line can break 69% on 5 stars, is because sock manufacturers aren't doing it right. These socks as many others should get even worse reviews, but people are "sizing up". (in spite of Amazon's data)I wear a size 13.5 or 14 shoe, but I don't have fat or athletic chunky calves or ankles, yet I typically have to buy the largest socks size available. In this particular brand line, that's the 15 1/2 - 19 (Xtra Large) on the sizing chart. Otherwise the socks will be too tight and too short. When I size up , the looseness/tightness balance is just perfect. I don't know about other people, but when I put on socks, I pull them up as high as they will go. These socks will reach the knee initially (I'm 6' 1" tall) and then when I move around they settle to just below the knee. The problem with these socks is the heel is 6 inches up the back of my calf. This makes no sense. Because even going from Men's 11 to Men's 16 is barely an inch increase. Going from Men's 8 to Men's 12 is barely an inch. What I'm getting at is that multiple shoe sizes, even 5 or 6 shoe size increase will barely add an inch to an inch and half to a shoe length. Yet these size "15 1/2 to 19" Xtra Large socks have a heel located a full 19 to 20 inches from the toe when stretched on. Nobody, not even Shack has a 20 inch foot. That's not how shoe sizes work. But these are some of the best made, most comfortable socks I've bought, in spite of the fact that the heel of the socks is halfway up my leg. And I do NOT have a small foot!!! (size 13.5)It's just idiotic really. Sock manufacturers are clearly not collecting any significant amounts of data, or their data is bad, or their analysis is bad. If they actually looked at who was buying their socks and how they wore them, they'd see that their Xtra Large would fit people with large, chunky or muscular calves, but the heel is all wrong for the vast majority. For the Xtra Large heel to fall in the right place, you would have to be an absolute giant, with thin legs, and they would have to roll their socks on with no pulling or stretching because the heel will easily move up the calf.I just ignore it, and treat them like tube socks, except I make sure they're "right side up" when I put them on. These are my goto socks for cold weather, I even double up on them when we get below zero. Quality is excellent. It's just the geometry is all wrong. If they were smart they'd make these without a heel location.

Comfortable and thick
These wool socks are comfortable and thick. They don't pinch my lower leg as hard as other brands, and as promised they don't slide down. I have a pair of expensive leather boots that fit slightly too roomy, and these socks helped improve the fit of the boots. Highly recommended!

Great alternative to moderate compression socks
Bought these for my husband, who has swelling in his legs and feet and can’t really wear shoes comfortably anymore. Regular compression socks were too thin, wear out crazy fast if you wear them around the house without shoes, and looked too “medical”. These are nice and thick, looks like casual boot socks, and stay up without TOO much pressure. Hubby likes them a lot, and the padding on the sole is thick enough to give him a bit of cushion around the house. They’ve proven to be very durable and the wool is breathable. Not too hot or too cold. Husband has a 13D foot, and long legs, and the large fit him perfectly—heel and toes where they were supposed to be and the top of the sock pulled up pretty much knee high. Check the suggested sizing, because I normally would have purchased an XL or extended size “tall” sock for him.

not worth the money
I wear shoes size 8.5 and the sox recomended for this shoe size are a little snug and very thin material. For the money I paid I ecspected something superior .Not worth the money.

A bit tight and not as warm as I expected
Being that these are merino wool, I was expecting them to be warm and fuzzy inside, they are not what I expected. They have a little lining of fuzz in the foot, but not the calf. Also they are too tight in the foot area for me. The calf is wide enough and non-binding but the foot/arch/ankle area is still not wide enough for me.
