Fine Woodworking Best Workshops

Excellent book
Great book on setting up the home wood working shop with excellent ideas and suggestions. Real life shops are illustrated with layouts and additional information for anyone who would like to set up their own shop. My husband has read it from cover to cover and I have browsed through it. He is currently using a shop which my father used and which also needs updating, especially since wood dust has been pronounced hazardous. This book has many, many good ideas, some of which are relatively inexpensive. I think most anyone would benefit from the expertise in this book~~old timers and newbies as well!

Decent book but...
I like the book; there are lots of chapters with good info on lighting, insulation, dust collection and safety (the chapter on how to treat different types of injuries was extremely practical). The books also has some decent plans for lumber storage and an explanation of which vices to use on a workbench. However, the book seems to be a collection of articles so feels kind of disjointed. The biggest missing topic (and for me, the main reason I purchased this type of book) was a discussion of how to layout the various tools in the shop to maximize efficiency and to be practical for a given space.I found the book “Wood Magazine : How to build a great home workshop” to be better in this regards, as this topic is discussed for about 30 pages. Regardless, I would still recommend both books for setting up a workshop.

Wood book
Any book by Fine Woodworking is a must have , they are the dog's.I have over ten of them, also they are so much cheaper here than in the U.S.A where they come from. Always buy used copies if a lot cheaper as they always come like new anyway.
