I bought this because I just got into kumihimo and wanted a machine that would be quicker. I was surprised that a kids toy was the only option, but it turned out to be pretty darn good at what it does. Options are limited to 8 or 12 strands, and I haven't been able to get the tension quite as even as using the manual disks, but I plan to keep practicing. I'm also impressed at the mechanics of the machine itself; it's all plastic (so probably prone to wear and tear) but surprisingly effective. It's clear that a lot of thought/planning went in to the design, and it wasn't just thrown together to make sales.As for the string that comes with it, I'm not impressed, but I didn't expect to be. I only made a few bracelets with their string in order to empty the bobbins so I could put on my own embroidery floss. 1m of floss fits the bobbin perfectly, and the tension was better when using the embroidery floss, too. I didn't use their closures, but they are plastic, and larger than I would prefer for a bracelet, but probably just fine for a kid.All in all, I was very happy with this purchase - now I just need to resist the urge to take it apart to find out how it works, lol.

Makes a 12-strand kongoh-gumi braid or an 8-strand kongoh-gumi braid. Works well. Loud. Takes patience to load. You can refill bobbins with your own yarn, embroidery floss, etc. Length is limited by small bobbins."2 in 1" version has some bobbins with finer yarn which is long enough to make a necklace, but the bobbins themselves are identical (except they're black & hard to see to refill). It also comes with the plastic clasps to make 2 necklaces, each with a tassel. I wasn't interested in the plastic clasps or tassel things, and I wanted to use my own yarn in the bobbins, so I don't see the "2 in 1" as being any different than the regular model, except it's purple.I would love to buy a 16-strand kongoh-gumi version. I would also love to have bigger bobbins/bigger capacity. I think crafty adults would buy a lot of ones with those features.

My granddaughters seemed to like them, but I do bieve they were a little hard to operate.

My granddaughter has a blast with this. (So do I) We have made a ton of bracelets and are always impressed with how they turn out.Tons of fun for sure!!!

Like most toys good for a few days then never played with again. Necklaces are too short and not enough material for enjoyment

Just got it today so happy and pleased

My 6 year old picked this out and spent her own money. She couldn’t figure it out. So I set it up for her and started making one. Low quality. The plastic itself feels low quality, but the bracelets don’t look like the picture. Doesn’t come with much material. And overall way easier and better off to buy string and watch Pinterest videos and make bracelets ourselves.

Allow extra length when measuring around wrist, ankle or neck. We measured but forgot about extra for thee connector parts. The kid loved this and was easy to use.

My granddaughter loved this gift. She is making them for all her friends. An excellent gift.
