Basic Instinct (Special Edition)

A neo-noir erotic film that holds your interest to the very end. I loved it. I was entertained. Sharon Stone is fantastic, sexy, even mesmerizing. Some people might not like it for various reasons like the nudity, stereotyping of LGBQT+ people, or the ending. All of these are legitimate reasons. I think the directing, the acting, and the sets were fantastic. Although it's not a perfect movie, I give it 5 stars and recommend it.

Extremely well -written, great characters, great plot. I disagree with folks who say they knew who the killer was from the beginning. I had to fast forward through the sex scenes, which are little too gratuitous for me. Can't ever tire of the beach house and that incredible view! Just a fun old-fashioned Hollywood style thriller.

From the beginning, you know who the killer is but as the movie goes on it's fun to watch her play mind games with those around her. The story revolves around a beautiful and seductive writer named Catherine who is wanted for the murder of a guy she was fooling around with. Nick Curran played by Michael Douglas is a cop with a bad past and record who finds himself falling for despite the evidence that points to her as the killer. It's an intense movie and yes there is sex and nudity but as a writer myself I enjoyed watching Sharon Stone as the ultimate femme fatale lure Nick into her web.

I'm giving this film four out of five stars for the reason that the climax was way too quick, and the twist was just predictable towards the end. I personally think that this was more so Paul Verhovens expression of his sexual frustrations as he does in Starship Troopers and Total Recall. He did start the 90's out great with this film. There was a sequel to this film which I feel is very plastic and unwatchable. I to this day cannot finish that film.I also notice there is the prejudice towards Lesbian and Bi-Sexual Women. That they are all psychopaths and extremely possessive of their girlfriends. Although I personally have had bad experiences with women who identify as Lesbian/Bisexual as a whole they are not all that bad. Also, I will say this, I don't think that when a person occasionally uses Cocaine it makes them a bad person. Just don't get hooked to the stuff and try to avoid as much as possible to not completely abstain from it.I loved this as this was one of the last films to support the rights of smokers aside from Thank you for smoking (2006). Like dude, relax smoke Anit all that bad. I like the noire vibe of this film. It was a 90's classic!

Was on time

I paid a lot for the movie, especially considering that the blue version would not play in my player (region 2). I knew that going in but I really wanted a 4K version of Basic Instinct (region free.). The movie played with an excellent restored 4K version. The only problem was that in a couple of spots the movie froze or depixulated. Because of the cost of the movie, I decided to return it.As a side note, the service was excellent.

Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone star in this violent brutal murder mystery. 7.0 on the Internet Movie Database. Along with a superb supporting cast this one will keep you guessing.(Ahem) Some interesting film work and editing by Paul Verhoeven, the director, makes this a notable film.

Je vous l’ai déjà dis les films de serial killers font pour moi partie du cinéma d’horreur comme sous genre à part entière et si vous vous souvenez de la scène d’introduction vous conviendrez que « basic instinct » réalisé en 1982 par Paul Verhoeven a droit d’entrée sur cette page. De l’angoisse psychologique menée par une maitresse es manipulation que je classe dans la même catégorie que « psychose » ou « liaison fatale ». Le maniement du pic à glace dans une scène est d’ailleurs presque un hommage à la scène de la douche dans le chef d’œuvre d’Hitchcock.Pour ce classique absolu qui a hissé Sharon Stone vers la gloire on a oublié qu’outre le fait de révéler que la blonde avait une aversion pour tout ce qui pouvait empêcher la brise de faire onduler son système pileux on y voyait aussi les nénés dès la première seconde. Pour ces derniers, en dehors d’être moins beaux que ceux de ma copine je la soupçonne assez fortement de ne pas être née avec, ça sent l’architecte d’intérieur, mais j’ai pas de médecin légiste sous la main et l’IML est débordée.Un film bien sulfureux dans lequel Michael Douglas a une façon de coller les filles aux murs pour laquelle Saint Macloux lui ferait des ponts d’or uniquement pour passer la tête au rayon « démonstration de pose de tapisserie » lors des prochaines journées portes ouvertes.Le duel au sommet Douglas / Stone parait nettement déséquilibré au départ. La dame a une arme absolue : se montrer compatible avec tous les animaux à sang chaud quelque soit le nombre de pattes pourvu qu’ils soient de sexe masculin, donc face ç à ça le pauvre Michael hein… surtout que la blondinette est fortement soupçonnée de faire tomber les victimes autour d’elle comme des pois chiche sur du couscous.Certes « basic instinct » a fortement à voir avec le thriller mais la personnalité hors norme de la tueuse est suffisamment effrayante pour que le Blu-ray soit le cul entre 2 étagères dans ma vidéothèque. Le plus glaçant (si je puis dire compte tenu de l’arme utilisée) est l’absence totale de mobile qui en fait une parfaite psychopathe. Une nana à mettre dans un bocal de formol afin d’illustrer les cours de facs sur les criminels au cerveau cramé au charbon de bois.Et si vous croyez que les jeux de manip vont s’arrêter là vous vous fourrez la 1ère phalange du majeur dans le pif jusqu’à la rotule. Le suspens est mené de main de surdoué par Paul Verhoeven dont la carrière est pavée de chef d’œuvres (« starship troopers », « total recall », « robocop »). Un incontournable 4.5 / 5
