Valfaris - Nintendo Switch

A must buy if you enjoy run & and guns or action games with some challenge. Gamplay is amazing, engaging, varied, challenging but fair.The game is packed with bosses and thought enemies that keep the fun going and varied.Level design is also top knotch, I never felt like a was play re-skined section. You constantly unlock new weapons and the proceeding level and boss fights are designed with these new weapons in mind. That being said I found that all weapons are viable in the game, some will make a given section easier but all are viable. There are also hidden secrets to find, so it even has an exploration component.Awesome graphics as well, they feel like they were prerendered but the right way. The stages, backgrounds and enemies have a lot of detailed. The stage elements have movement, and react to the environmental lighting and the light from your characters weapons; it makes the stages feel alive. Color design is also good, for a game that has a metal gorish esthetic its actually very colorful.To top it all off the game has a sweet metal sound track that ramps up with the action.The story is straight forward but I enjoyed the main character's and the AI conpanion's dialog.Honestly I could gush about how great the game is for a while. I finished the game three times now, I feel it has great replay ability and is one that I will for sure replay in the future.

Not the easiest game in the world, but there are save points almost around every corner, which is good. You'll be dying a lot in this game and it really helps to not have to start all the way over from the beginning of the level. My fellow headbangers will love the background music- kick-ass metal written by a member of Celtic Frost, one of the OG 80s metal bands. Always goes great with the on-screen action. I'm not the best gamer in the world, but I keep playing this game because the whole package is just so good.

So as far as looks go, Valfaris is a beautifully hand drawn violent game set in a nightmarish world. It is truly a pleasure to look at with some great eye candy. Everything is alive and moving , enemies erupt in blood splatter and body parts when shot and killed and it’s all set to a pretty cool metal soundtrack. The controls are pretty solid for the most part, although I found myself dying a lot because stuff just gets a bit clunky at times. But my main gripe has got to be the unbalanced difficulty. The first half of the game seems to be fairly balanced. You will die a fair amount of times but it’s stuff where once you play enough you will catch the patterns and overcome it.....Then out of nowhere the game becomes incredibly hard and unreasonable. I’d say about the time you hit the Egyptian tombs stage is when this occurs. Now I’m no noob when it comes to these 2d romps, I’ve conquered all the classics like contra, megaman, Ninja gaiden etc... and let me tell you this game gets super difficult and frustrating half way in. Bosses will kill you in 2 to 3 hits often accompanied by enemies that stick to you and take your health in one swoop. They just keep respawning and never stop. It causes you to not be able to learn the boss patterns and results in dying and retrying countless times. I’m all for a challenge, but there is a fine line between challenging and frustrating. And I think it really hurts the experience here. It is unfortunate because there is a masterpiece of a game here under the surface. It’s justmarred by a lot of small annoyances. Even with all that being said I do recommend giving this one a go if your up for a challenge and also love the classic run n guns, there is fun to be had here. But just be prepared to get your butt handed to you.

I like this game. Arcade style, side scrolling, hack and slash brawler with heavy metal and a Norse flair. Hits hard!

Fantastic game, I love this developer, excellent music. I wish they would make the graphics 32 bit though, just a little more detail but I love this game, This developer also made Slain - Back From Hell, also an excellent game. Did I mention the music is awesome?!

Really enjoyed this game but can be incredibly frustrating. Sometimes it feels impossibly hard just for the sake of prolonging gameplay. It is very grnerous with the checkpoints which is a big plus. If you dont mind replaying the same section dozens of times, you will enjoy this game.

Valfaris es un juego del estilo corre y dispara como CONTRA, MIDNIGHT RESISTANCE, ETCGráficamente el juego es bastante vistoso y original.Me gusta que al ir avanzando hay puntos de guardado que te permiten reiniciar desde ahí cuando mueres.El juego es bastante difícil, pero con buena memorización de patrones y reflejos rápidos se puede ir avanzando. La música es una de las razones por las cuales mas me interesaba, todo es como estilo METAL.
