Works great but get the 211 model if you have the Mansfield 160 toilet
Come to find out, this 210 model is for 3.5 gallon per flush toilets. No matter what anyone says, get the 211 model if you have the 1.6 gallon per flush Mansfield 160 toilet. They are not really interchangeable if you want to keep your toilet functioning as before. Now, if you do get the wrong one (like I did), the fix is pretty easy. Order yourself a 211. Turn off the water to the toilet and flush it until the tank is drained. Open your toilet tank, pull out the fill line from the filler cap and turn the filler cap counterclockwise to unscrew it. Raise the outer plastic tube up and off. Replace it with the 211 plastic tube - lowering it down and make sure the flush lever goes in the opening. Screw back on the filler cap and replace the filler hose. Done! Re-install toilet tank lid and turn back on the water. Since all of the parts (except the tube) are the same, it makes fixing this easy - even if a bit pricey. A whole lot easier than disassembling the whole toilet tank again!!This part arrived quickly and was exactly as described. No problem with it - it just isn't meant for the 160.

Beware of generic replacement parts
I had to replace one of these flush valves on my toilet after about 10 years, and I originally just bought a no-name, generic replacement valve from the hardware store. It looked absolutely identical to the original, but when I installed it, it leaked worse than the one I was replacing! Amazon was the only place I could even find an actual Mansfield replacement part, but it worked flawlessly. Hint: Do yourself a favor and get new gaskets/washers for the bolts that hold the tank to the bowl (you have to remove these to replace this valve). They only cost a couple bucks, but the old ones will probably leak after you've removed and re-installed them. Just save yourself the hassle and get new ones.

You don't have to be a body builder to flush a toilet.
I utilize the Mansfield M210 Plumb Pak Pp835-88 Water Saver Flush Valve for my Mansfield toilet. Replacing the old, worn-out flushing mechanism with the Mansfield M210 was straightforward. It slotted perfectly into the space occupied by the previous one. Even replacing the lower seal was simple, requiring only a slight adjustment to position it correctly. Once installed, it made the toilet flush as if it were brand new. If you're considering a new flush system for your Mansfield toilet, the Mansfield M210 Plumb Pak Pp835-88 Water Saver Flush Valve is a reliable choice.

The BEST thing about this type of flush-valve is that the ...
I have used these flush-valves in all three of my toilets for 24 years. Over all that time, only the fill-valves have leaked, never these flush-valves. The fill-valves were NOT Mansfield units. I have replaced these flush-valves only once simply due to renovations. The BEST thing about this type of flush-valve is that the flushing action can be stopped, mid-flush, thus preventing potential overflows. If the bowl is about to overflow, which typically might happen if someone attempts a second flush, you only have to turn the handle the opposite direction to stop the flush. With the chain-pulled flapper valve, you are doomed to overflow - you cannot stop the flush unless you very quickly remove the tank-lid and jam your hand down inside to close the flapper. Yea, YOU know what I'm talking about. This flush-valve is designed to be used with a handle that has a longer rod, which sticks through the D-opening on the side of the flush-valve. There is no chain... which is why turning the handle the opposite direction will close the valve and stop the flush. If you use a Mansfield flush-handle like this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BQSM4O/ it is about 1 1/2 inches longer than the typical brass-rod handle, so that it stays within the flush-valve's D-opening. The flush-valve rotates counter-clockwise when the lever is pushed - it's supposed to do that. But with a standard brass-rod handle, flushing causes the valve to rotate itself off the shorter rod. I would not use a chain-pull to open this flush-valve because then you would lose the ability to stop the flush.I use a standard brass-rod handle, which still reaches within the valve's D-opening, but I put a small nylon zip-tie through one of the rod's holes and around the flush-valve's D-opening - loosely so there's still slop. This prevents the valve from rotating too far, and keeps it on the brass rod. Works like a charm.I don't use the flush-handle above (it was installed for a month or so) because it is plastic and flushing makes it have a little "give". I think it will break eventually, so I installed a brass-rod handle.
