Crazy good tea kettle
I needed a no frills induction compatible tea kettle. Many I tried, including one from China on Amazon are crap. The Chinese kettle had RUST in the bottom! This demeyere kettle is beautiful, strong stainless steel. Handle is tight so I have control when I pour. Capacity is awesome. The Packaging was above and beyond (not packaged by or shipped by Amazon) great shipping box, inside packaging was wonderful. Looks exactly like the picture, and can be used on any cooking surface. Zero buyers regret.

Makes a gallon of boiling water at a time
We use very large tea bags (Paradise 1 ounce tea bags sold elsewhere on Amazon) and use gallon pitchers to make them in. Most tea kettles are less than 4 quarts. This kettle is 6 quarts and well over a gallon. In about 20 minutes on our propane burners, we can heat a gallon of water to a boil, and make a pitcher of tea which will last a day or so. The tea is consumed hot, cold with milk, and iced as iced tea with or without sugar (but often with lemon). The kettle is beautiful, though it needs to be cleaned occasionally. The machining is well done, there was no residue, or solder that concerned us with this kettle. It is very large and has much heavier gauge steel than other smaller kettles. It's very heavy empty, and amazingly heavy when full of boiling hot water. Though my wife, who is not a body builder, has managed for years to operate this kettle and loves it. We needed a second kettle for a new kitchen we acquired and ordered a 2nd kettle. Our older kettle was listed as 6.5 quarts, and sold for $84.95 from a different company (but shipped via Amazon). I was pleased to see the same kettle still being sold, but at a lower price. In 2 years of daily use, our older kettle has shown virtually no sign of wear. The only con for this kettle is no whistle, you must check on it, or set a timer. I have thought about looking for an after market whistle, but it really hasn't been an issue. With over 2 years of use we have never run this kettle beyond it's ability to hold water. It takes a long time to boil off a gallon. If you make a gallon of water at a time, it's a great quality product and looks wonderful in a kitchen.

Happy with this kettle
It looks good, feels sturdy and boils water...what else should we ask from a kettle.

This is just the right size!
This hold so much water that I can keep it on my wood stove all day and have hot water when I need it! It stays warm enough to use for several hours after being removed from the heat, it’s thick but light and easy to pour from! There is No whistle…. Just don’t let it dry up on your stove! It’s easy to fill with the wide opening and the handle stays upright when you put it there! I haven’t had any problems with the handle getting hot… perfect for the holidays and always having tea ready to serve!

Three Strikes and You're Out
The first 4.25 quart Bistrot by Demeyere (so-called "Belgium") Resto Water Kettle, arrived with its cover knob broken in two. The second one came with a dent in its side. Both were from Kitchen Kapers. The third, from Healthy Home and Kitchen, is expected tomorrow. Will it be "strike-3" or a slow grounder to the pitcher? Stay tuned. Can't comment on its serviceability because I haven't had the chance to use it yet. But, yes, having "Belgium" in the title of this Indonesian-made product is deceptive advertising. Amazon should correct this for its own reputation's sake. Were it not for Amazon's excellent return policy ("you don't like it, send it back at our expense") I would have certainly gone elsewhere after the second strike.Bistrot by Demeyere Belgium Resto Water Kettle 4.25-qt.EDITED REVIEW:The 3rd kettle arrived in perfect condition. I've used it for about a week and, with one exception, find no problems. The exception is the comparatively small circumference of the heating area on the kettle bottom. I agree with other users that this restriction unduly lengthens the boiling time. That's because a high gas flame would exceed the kettle's heating area, sending flames up the side of the kettle. The lack of a whistle is a minor nuisance. However, the steam issuing from the spout is an adequate boiling signal.I especially like the long gracefully designed spout that is functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. The handle gets only mildly warm, so no problem there. The cover is excellent: tight fitting yet removable with moderate pressure. The general design is extremely attractive. Good value for the price.Based on my further experience, I will change my rating to 4-stars out-of-5.

Didn't expect it to be so huge, and I am glad I bought it
I love, love, love this kettle. I was a little wary about getting a kettle that doesn't whistle, but I am not disappointed. My boyfriend and I are extremely happy with this demeyere. It arrived larger than expected, so it's perfect for heating large amounts of water for company, or just the right amount for one or two people. The curve of the spout makes for easy and exact pouring. there are no spills. The lid stays on super tight and the look of it in my kitchen is pure style and functionality and Happy tea time!! I have had it for a few weeks and use it one to two times a day. I have not noticed any kind of rusting or leaks as mentioned in other reviews. If there are any changes, I will definitely update. I fully recommend this large fully awesome kettle.
