Making Victorian Costumes for Men Paperback – July 3, 2019

This is a really helpful learning tool for anyone tackling period tailored projects. I am a professional costume maker and have a lot of research books. This is one of the clearest and easiest to follow that I have come across. Extra delightful because all the costumes in this book have been made immaculately in half scale- which is super cute and a bit mind blowing. I have been lucky emotionally work alongside the author a few times and she is an excellent theatre and period tailor.Having some of her experience captured in a book is an absolute dream.

This is a very informative book, very clearly laid out. Not for the complete novice but anyone with more experience of costume making will be able to follow the clear instructions.The book contains really helpful information on the structural canvas involved in men's tailoring, which is often hard to find info on without buying some of the very expensive tailoring books.The projects in the book cover most aspects of men's clothing of the period, and those with more making experience will be able to adapt the period correct shapes to the design they are working to.An accessible, affordable buy.

Brilliant book! Lots of detail on the making process of men’s clothing - has scalable grid patterns but not drafting instructions. Great for period costume.
