Pad Protector, 5", (2)

This works well to secure an Abranet pad and protect the hooks on my sander base from being burnt off. The problem came when trying to line up the holes in the protector with the holes on my eight (8) hole base. There was NO combination that lined up with my base, resulting in a situation where I got NO dust extraction. I punched my own holes in the pad so now it extracts dust, but it looks rather ugly. It really should have been taken care of in the design of the product, given the number of holes that they already had poked in the thing to accommodate so many other hole patterns.

This pad serves several purposes.... it helps the dust extraction of the sander and helps keep the sander pad cooler. I use it with my Festool sander, vacuum, and the Mirka Abranet discs. I didn't put one of these pads on my prior machine mounted pad basically melted from the heat. This additional pad allows more air movement and provides some insulation. I bought a few of them to have on hand.

Worked as advertised, i really thought with all the holes my 5" 8 hole standard ridgid, porter cable, dewalt would fit but it needs holes punched out. still works well as is.

This pad really does work. It prevents the base pad from overheating and melting the Velcro hooks and in the case of Abranet pads it keeps the abrasive material away from the hooks. The sander it is mounted on gets used almost daily,is several years old and is still in very good condition.

The hole pattern does not line up for the 5" Ridgid Random Orbit Sander. Due to the inability to get sanding dust out the efficiency of Mirka Abranet sanding discs are negatively impacted.
