Size:Тwo Рack FD Coco Mulch is a 5 kg(11lbs), compressed mulch block. Manufactured by crushing coconut husks, coco mulch has many benefits over bark mulch. Unlike bark, coco mulch does not float and thus can be used on slopped surfaces. Because of coconuts high lignin content, FD Coco Mulch will outlast bark mulch, giving you up to 3 years of mulching benefits without refreshing. After hydrated with 4 gallons of water, each block expands to about 2 cubic feet of mulching medium. With a "rust" like look, FD Coco Mulch will bring color into your landscape and is perfect for any mulching job. Does not attract insects and is not harmful to pets. WARNING: NOT FOR CONSUMPTION.

I like this product. A little on the higher end price wise but looks nice and works.

The mulch itself is OK, but the amount you get for the price - even after expanding - is way to small compared to getting regular mulch at the store. Would not buy again.

Too expensive, but it looks good!

This comes dehydrated, so after soaking it in water, it expands to cover about six feet. It's easy to work with and it looks really nice.My only regret is that I loved the look of it so much that I committed to doing a lot of my landscaping with it... which required me to buy more than I initially anticipated (or budgeted for).I'd definitely recommend laying down a weed barrier first though!Hindsight, I should've chosen something else but it does look nice.

Overall good!

This mulch has a lot more finely ground coir in it than some coco mulches, and is rather dusty; also found a few pieces of plastic strips in it. Overall it is what I want/need and a good price. Seems to definitely be pure too, some mulches have other plant pieces in them.I am mixing this with another type of mulch as a high humidity bedding for my snakes who need it, because it is very mold and fungus resistant while holding humidity well. That's the only reason the dustiness bothers me.

Would buy again

Great that I can order such a great product without having to go to the nursery myself. At first it was a little difficult to break apart (since I didn't have a big container i can mix it all in with water), but once I got started it was not a problem at all. So far my plants that I've been trying to winterize in the California desert are doing well.

Works and looks pretty too

Kind of amazed by how much this stuff expands when you add water. I am doing my food garden in containers this year [lots of them.] - his mulch looks very pretty in the containers. Instead of soaking the whole block I have been flaking bits off and soaking in a bucket as I need it. I'm finished and I still have half a block left. Recommend and would purchase again.

Five Stars

It's great protection for my strawberries, keeps them from laying on soil, keeps them dry.

Expensive, but will last several seasons

I love this stuff! I bought several bales last summer to help keep in my raised berry beds. It takes a little bit of preparation- just place the block in a wheelbarrow, add water, and wait for the material to expand. After 20 minutes or so, I turned the block over to allow the material on the top of the bale to soak and expand. You can break it apart with your hands very easily when both sides of the bale have soaked about 20 minutes per side. The expanded coir is light and consists of 1/2 inch to about 1 inch chunks and doesn't compact easily- water goes right through without any problem. When the coir dries out, the dirt underneath remains moist much longer than using no mulch at all. The coir I placed last summer (9 months ago now) hasn't decomposed at all. I'm buying a few more bales to fill in spots where I didn't spread it thick enough- 2 to 3 inches is what seems to work well for me (1 inch isn't enough IMO). So even though this stuff ain't cheap, it does seem to last several seasons which will help mitigate the cost in the long run, so I plan to keep using it.
