super cute/ durable pencil
The media could not be loaded. I love these pencils because the grip is so soft and squishy. This pencil came a week before the expected arrival date. There are instructions on the back of the pencil's original packaging to show you what you can do with the pencil. It does have a little bit of weight because of the metal piece inside, but I have a friend who takes it out becuase he press manually instead of shaking it. It does not bother me at all, personally.I got the product from the seller: ENDLESS-JAPAN.I think it was so, very cute that they used a few sheets of a japanese grocery magazine to cushion the package.Thank you!!

Beautiful green and extremely comfortable!
I absolutely love this pencil! The color, the weight and feel of the writing experience. This is pretty much the same as the dr grip pen. Amazing! The eraser is a little small but the MS-10 pilot refills fit perfectly, and if you don't like that, just buy a click or slider eraser. Since this pencil didn't have a clip, I beaded a loop for easy carry, and this pencil fits into my zip pocket of my kokuyo campus novita clear book. Love! I feel that if you like the fatter pencils, or have cubital tunnel syndrome and tendonitis like me, you will find this pencil comfortable. The shake mechanism to bring the lead out is also a bonus and isn't super loud like I thought it would be. Extremely pleased!

Comfortable, light, and easy to annoy nearby people.
First, the shipping time was only a few days, not the suggested 3-4 weeks. Amazon wouldn't let me confirm early receipt - a fail in their system. The only small gripe is the metal guide barrel inside slides up and down with a hard "clunk," but this does not affect operation and, honestly, how often does one flip their pencil, anyway? Plus, you could treat it as a bonus that allows you to annoy nearby siblings, spouses, uptight instructors, etc.The led storage capacity is a bit low, maybe 30, or so, but that's pretty minor as that will still last a long time even with heavy use. It's very comfortable to use. I'm rather skinny so my fingers have little .. uh .. padding and the silicon is delightful to hold even for lengthy drawing sessions.Very pleased with my purchase. :-)

Recommended for people who love customization and grip ease!
Awesome pencil, I got the Play Border version of the Dr. Grip since it was a cute touch. This is probably a good competitor with Mitsubishi Uni Alpha gel pencils but I personally find the grip for this one to be less slippery and more customizable. That goes for the whole pencil too; it was made to hold a littlekeychain/charm. If you disassemble the pen correctly you cna also slip a piece of patterned paper in the clear body to give it a personal touch. You can even arrange the colored blocks in the grip itself to include different color schemes or just rearrange the colors already included. This pencil also has a wonderful center of gravity, more focused towards the grip area (probably due to the metal piece inside the pencil, giving it a bit of weight). The metal piece serves as the pencil's alternative mechanism for dispensing lead; by simply shaking it.Overall, Pilot hasn't disappointed me with their pencils and the seller delivered fairly quickly (around roughly 2 weeks).

Stylish and Well Made
Very comfortable, well weighted and well made. I have a preference for 5mm mechanical pencils over any other pencil option and the Dr. Grip series is by far the best I have drawn or written with to date. They are bulkier compared to some others out there but that's mostly because there is a silicon sleeve that makes long periods of writing or drawing much more tolerable. I actually bought 3 different colors of the same Play Border series just because I liked them so much. These are so nice that you really only need one.

Nice to Hold
Bought one of these for my son who has pencil-grip-of-death that leads to hand fatigue. He is a big fan of this pencil and reports it is very comfortable to use. I know this is true based on the fact that he actually keeps track of where it is. That said, he left it in a pocket of his pants that went through the laundry and he did not survive the adventure. I've since purchased two more. My son really likes the squishy grip part as well as the one gesture lead advancing feature.

Grip Comfortable, But Collects Dust
First, this is the "Play Border" Version, meaning the plastic underneath the "Dr. Grip" Grip, is segmented and you can take the Grip apart and re-arrange the segments to your liking. I have not used this but I can confirm it exists. Otherwise this is a standard "Fill From The Top" Mechanical Pencil with the "Shaker" feature, in 0.5mm. The supplied Pilot Lead looks to be in HB Hardness, and the Pen overall is easy to use. Need More Lead? You can simply shake the Pencil a couple times, and there's more Lead. I find for myself I really like Shakers and "Body Knock" Pencils.

Writing is now neat, thin, AND comfortable!
I have been through countless 0.5 mechanical lead pencils but I just couldn't seem to find one that satisfied my writing fingers. Then one day in English class, I see a classmate of mine writing with what I assumed was a thick pen with lots of cushioning, lo and behold, it was this very mechanical lead pencil. I was not aware manufacturers made them this size, so I went ahead and bought my own. My fingers could not be happier.

Bello e COMODO!!!

TL;DR: Really, really good mechanical pencil. Get one!
Pilot Dr. Grip pencils are pretty much my favorite, and have been for over 10 years. I started using them when I was in high school. Being someone who takes lots of notes AND is subjected to wrist/hand pain, I was looking for a comfortable mechanical pencil that could be used for extended period of time. The Pilot Dr. Grip is big (over 10mm in diameter), but it's mostly made of plastic, so it's also pretty light. Not too light though, because there's a metal tube inside that's part of the "shaker" mechanism, and that gives it just enough heft to make you feel like your holding something. It's pretty resistant. I've had one for over 10 years, used it pretty much everyday for at least 5 of those years, and it's still working like a charm (some of the paint eventually came off though, but meh...).The gel grip is nice to hold, and doesn't get slippery even if you hold it for hours. All those things means you don't need to put a lot of pressure to hold the pencil, which means less hand fatigue at the end of the day. I also have a basic Uni KuruToga (the green plastic model), and for me the Pilot Dr. Grip is by far the most comfortable to use, and the one I'll pick if I have the choice. The lead doesn't rotate to stay sharp like it does on a KuruToga, but this is a 0.5 mechanical pencil, so for me, it doesn't make much of a difference anyway. The "shaker" mechanism means you can just shake the pencil to extend the lead, so you don't have to really stop writing to do it, at least when you get used to it. You just do a little wrist move and BAM! new lead! That also means that if you tend to shake your pencil around for no reason, the lead may extend without you wanting it to. And you don't really control how far it extends (one "shake" is usually enough unless you want a super long point)... But you can always press the end cap to extend or push back the lead like you would on other mechanical pencils. There's also a small eraser hidden under that cap, but it's not really useful and will wear down quickly. This model is the "Play Border", and I got the pale green version. Basically, you can unscrew the metal point of the pencil, pull away the gel grip, and inside are 3 colored rubber-like colored pieces that you can rearrange like you want. You can also unscrew the pencil in the middle, and there's a small rolled acetate inside the clear part of the body that you can take out and decorate. I've put some stickers on mine because I don't have anything else nearby, but I'm fairly sure you could also draw on the acetate (with something like a Sharpie paint pen for example), or add other layers of acetate and drawings/stickers to make a neat little montage. There are plenty of other colors and models to choose from though, so if this one isn't really your thing, I'm sure you can find another you like. I have 2 old models (icy blue and pearl white), and as far as I can tell, they all give similar performances. It came with four leads inside the barrel, which is cool. They work nicely, but nothing miraculous. There is no indication of what grade/brand they are. I'm pretty sure they're just regular HB leads. Of course, you can easily switch them out for your favorites.TL;DR: Really, really good mechanical pencil. Get one!
