This is the 4k restoration in a French edition with English subs by default turned on, BUT if you use the ‘subtitles’ button on your Blu ray remote you CAN turn them off before the movie starts. This version is the cheapest way I’ve found to get the Selznick era films on Blu ray in their restoration versions.

This is one of my favourite movies and the blue ray transfer is wonderful. I think blue ray transfers are ideal for black and white movies. As with the blue ray of ‘Casablanca’, the photography is luminous and you can see more of the detail: eg the swirling mists under the opening titles. Also you can appreciate the set decoration more and of course the eerie shadows: Judith Anderson as Mrs Danvers has never looked more sinister! I have progressed from seeing this film on TV as a child over 50 years ago to see img it in the cinema several times to the video and then dvd and now this superb blue ray: each time the film gets better and better m. Sadly this is a French edition with French subtitles which I could not get rid of!

The picture quality on this Blu-ray disc is wonderful. I have been trying to get this film on Blu-ray for years. I have only one criticism. Subtitles are turned on by default and you have to turn them off every time you start the disc. But that is a minor hassle when the quality of all the scenes are so clear and smooth.

A classic like no other. It truly is amazing for the time period Lawrence Olivier is fantastic and Joan Fontaine equally so.

The film was fine but the French subtitles were a bit of a distraction and there was no way to switch them off.

Amazing movie on big screen.

Wunderbarer alter Klassiker, ein echter Hitchcock eben. Die Qualität ist gut für so einen alten Film, auch der Ton. Man muss die Lautstärke halt etwas hochdrehen. Schneller Versand, preiswert, alles bestens. Insgesamt top !!

Je collectionne les films d’Hitchkock. Je m’achète un film par mois. Ce mois ci je découvre « REBECCA », juste génial, un casting de grands talents comme toujours. Un régal pour tout collectionneur.

Fantástica película

This is a French edition of the classic Hitchcock film "Rebecca". On playback your only choices are original soundtrack with French subtitles, or an over-dubbed French soundtrack. You cannot have the original English soundtrack without subtitles in French.Apart from that, the transfer from black-and-white film is excellent, though you have to put up with black bars on the sides of most viewing platforms.You can spend much more to get the Criterion edition, which I believe fills the screen
