Clearer and crisper than the old steel headed needle that came with the record player. It is aspherical as opposed to spherical meaning its head picks up extra detail from the groove, however spherical heads are a little kinder to your LPs but don't get the most out of the recording. I seem to hear less crackling with this new head. Made in Japan, diamond not steel and comes in cool, well presented packaging. I'm very happy, I'm off now to tell the local record shop guy who prefers ebay that he was wrong and you can get a diamond stylus for a few extra, well-worth-it pounds on amazon!
