Unfortunately, while well packaged, the tamper had fallen off the body of this pipe tool during shipping. Being too impatient to return it and wait for a replacement, I simply placed a small dab if adhesive in the tamper and reattached the body and thus far that has been sufficient to keep the tamper where it is supposed to be. Otherwise, it seems to be a solid, heavy duty tool that should survive many years in my pocket, as long as the tamper doesn't fall off again.Other than that, this is by far my favorite pipe tool and if the tamper had remained attached, this would have easily been a 5-star purchase.

Although I was put off by the price, which seems appropriate for a working man, as opposed to a gentleman such as myself; I scraped the small change from my pocket and hurled it at the the proprietor of Amazon for this item. I have been ever so delighted with this purchase, which occurred over a year ago. While this pipe tool is not embellished with a mahogany handle, or silver tamper, it has the utilitarian charm of my chambermaid's large birthing hips.It is well crafted. While some mentioned pieces breaking, I suppose this occurred because these are brutes, who clumsily tamped or scraped too vigorously. A gentleman knows how to properly use tools with a gentle and efficient ease. The tamper is a perfect 1/2 inch diameter, which is perfect for the bowl of my pipe. Only a lazy lay about would use a larger pipe bowl. The scraping tool is curved and smooth, with a serrated edge on one side. Perfect for scrapping residue from the sides of the pipe bowl. In addition, you can use this tool for scooping a bump of snuff from your snuff box, as it has a smooth surface, as opposed to the brushed metal handle. The spike is a spike, and will poke your smoke. I have even taken to carrying the tool regularly, as the spike can be used to fend of street urchins. I am sure it would not be as effective as my ivory hilt dagger, but sometimes I worry that it may be confiscated by a greedy constable, which is a fear I do not have with this pipe tool.Edit: I still use it. Great pipe tool. I prefer the straight scraper blade to the common spoon shape, not to mention its blunt end makes for a good and more precise scoop. The aerating pick is nice, thin and long to do its job. The tamper is well shaped and effective at its function, the tool's weight is just about right itself for most tamping jobs.Some have noted the tamper head is prone to falling off...very true, but easy to fix for the longer term: it's a pressure fit alone, so if it wasn't seated deeply, of course it'll come loose. I took a small drop of medium thickness cyanoacrylate hobby glue and applied it to the bottom with a tiny amount also applied to the sides. Next, align the tamper fitting then using a wooden mallet or similar, hammer it all the way down. The CA glue only has to bind the surfaces and keep them immobile...it's when it doesn't take much to get it moving that it comes loose. The extra grab of the CA glue should prevent that. I'd read of the problem and knew what to do, so I cut to the chase the day mine arrived.I didn't wait for the tamper head to fall off, I PULLED it off and used my CA-then-hammer method to reseat and immobilize it. Works great for me for weeks now, and I expect it to keep doing so.

I use it for my pipe. It's multi function, solid, nice. I use it everyday and like it very much. The price is reasonable. Thank for manufacturer.

Durable Matt Lightweight Stainless Steel Spike Tamper Reamer 3-in-1 Tobacco Pipe Tool, have a faulty desing:a.- The round item on top, to pressure the tobacco on the pipe, it is placed as a separated item, must of the time felt apart.b.- HOW TO IMPROVED?.- Instead of making a separated piece in a form of a oval, please just make it as a part of the arm and bend it, in that way it is going to be one body and no way it is going to separate from the 3 arm spike.c.- the other elements are great, and are easy to use. if you correct the design it is a perfect machine to be use in the tobacco pipe and other uses. Very good for the price, I like that it's a more solid piece than the traditional Czech tool.Had a small issue with my first one, wasn't going to worry about it, but got an email from the company asking how everything was. Since they asked, I explained the minor defect and they took care of it right away. Great service and stood behind their product even though it's not a high dollar item.I'm sure this pipe tool will last for years and years, it is simple and solid.

one of my pet peeves is unbalanced weight on tampers. this one gets pretty close to getting it right. of not balanced then you want it to be bottom heavier. this is. a good quality. nice brand stamping without being obnoxious. the three tools you need at a price you can afford. happy to add this to my collection.

Works great for what’s it intended for! Only problem I have is the poker part is a little thick so going threw very tiny pin pot holes in a pipe isn’t really an option, still gotta keep a paper clip around for that.

Arrived on time,looks as expected but tampere fell off after 2 days!!!

For the money, not bad at all. How long it lasts, only time will tell.
