102 Monologues for Middle School Actors: Including Comedy and Dramatic Monologues

I bought this for my daughter who was auditioning for attendance to Nashville School of Arts for High School...We both read the entire book and narrowed it down to 3 choices...it was a great book for her to show off her acting skills! She was accepted into the school!

There are a couple funny or poignant monologues in this collection, but overall, they are really just average.There is little variety in the tone or length of them. Most are complaining, which certainly is a decent fit for middle schoolers, but ultimately doesn't help good actors become great.The monologues are all too long for standard 1-minute audition requirements, but can be cut with a little bit of effort. I suggest cutting the last sentence off of almost all of them, as most of the time it was redundant.This is a good book for a teacher who is facilitating a very basic, beginner-level class, but it wasn't challenging enough for what my daughter needed.
