I'm always on the lookout for large loose socks to wear while sleeping. (My feet get cold.) I hesitated to buy these because the price was high, but I'm glad I tried them. Be aware that the L size might still be too tight on your legs if you are looking for a loose sock. I bought L and XL, and I prefer the XL. This is how they measure up: The foot is basically the same on both. If you measure while they are flat, the foot length is about 10 1/2 in. and the foot height of the flat sock is about 4 1/2 in. The height of the sock itself is 12 1/2 in. on both sizes.The BIG difference is the width of the part that covers your leg. When flat, the XL is 4 1/2 in. wide, but the L is only 3 1/2 in. wide. That means the unstretched XL will be 9 in. around your leg and the unstretched L will be 7 in. around. The XL leg portion is also a looser knit than the L, so it stretches more easily than the L does. The top of the L size caused an indentation line on my calf, but the XL did not. (And I have thin legs.) So if you want a truly loose fit, I recommend the XL size. I wish I had gone with the XL for both packages.

so many socks out there are great when you have them on your feet, but when you start bringing them up, if you have any kind of edema or if you have large legs, they grip so tight that you get edema. so the point of these socks is if they are nice and wide at the top and let’s face it a lot of people are overweight in America and now they’re finally seeing this and making products that are available for people who are.I don’t know how they’re going to hold up same when they’re washed and worn but we’ll see how many times I can keep them from getting holes in them.Antoinette Jackson

Hubby is size 13 shoe. Should have bought a size large sock according to size chart, BUT I have learned from experience to never trust those charts. I ordered the XL for his size 13 foot and we finally have a great pair of socks that fit his big feet and calves! They are great and very comfortable on his calves too.

While the calf part is wide and comfortable, the foot part is a bit larger than I would like.

Yes, these are mostly cotton, so they wear out a whole lot quicker than polyester, which lasts forever. But if you want something against your swollen feet that will not irritate or cause constant itching, this is what you need. Besides, i am tired of paying a cheaper price to get stuff from outside US. These are great, plus you are paying Americans to make them.

The sock comfortably fit my big feet and they do not slide down my calf.

Finding large socks is a nightmare. I wear a 16 6E and struggle to find anything. These socks are extremely comfortable but do wear out pretty fast.
