Excellent in taste just right
Like many here I grew up in San Diego, CA eating saladitos in school and at home. They were bigger and softer back then but everything looks bigger when you are a kid. As for taste. I had just a few left over from my trip to San Diego a couple months ago. I can't find them anywhere here in Florida. I compared them to the originals I bought in a Hispanic Super Mercado grocery store in San Diego and they are the same size and just a tad bit less salty which is way ok as the original ones were very salty from the store. These are just right in the salty area but are very dried but if you ate these as a kid, sometimes you got fresher ones that were not so hard which is why you slowly suck on these as they dissolve and can then chew on them. I bot those green tubs from China on Amazon and they were terrible. These are very good and I now have a new supplier going forward.

Great Product Gone Bad
Heck of a lot better value then when I used to buy them 4 to the dollar back in the 70's at the neighborhood market in Tucson. I love the reviews that say they are too salty. These are dry SALTED plums! The best way to eat them is to slice a lemon in half an put a couple in and drink the salty lemon juice. Then eat the softened saladitos.UPDATE for 2018/2019 Orders: The last couple of orders have been horrible. I wound up throwing most away because there was no fruit to them, just a pit. The ones that have edible fruit on them have a reddish tint. The red ones have an odd mushy texture and don't taste right. Not sure if I want to temp fate and order these again.

Buy these if you are searching for the best on Amazon. I've tried them all.

A favorite Mexican treat
Just as I remember them from my childhood growing up in Tucson Arizona. My father would buy us one of these at the small grocery store we frequented as a special treat, and these bring back those memories. Those of you who think they're too "salty" probably had no idea what you were buying! My wife is from Ohio, and can't eat them :-)Can't find them around here, despite Texas's Hispanic history.

Probably the saltiest substance on Earth.
Growing up in southern AZ, these were a childhood staple. I now live in the Midwest and these are impossible to find. If you aren’t a fan of overly salty things then these are definitely not for you and if you tried one it might just kill you. On the other hand, for those who have made it past the initial 30 seconds, they are hooked and literally salivate just thinking about them.

Better than Chinese candy!
I’ve tried them all! I grew up eating these but these are getting harder to find! California has the best saladitos. I’m now in Texas. They don’t have these. I haven’t seen any like these. Anywhere. What they have is Chinese candy. It’s not the same unless you put them in oranges or lemons and squeeze the oranges/lemons then it tastes good. But to eat it like that ... nah... nothing like the ones in California, where you can pop them in your mouth and enjoy sucking on it or putting in your Coronas. So yes buy these!!!

More pits than plum fruit!
I was raised enjoying various types of dried plums snacks and found the flavorsome process of slowly pacifing on just one at a time until the succulent extremely salty dried meat of plums could be lightly chewed away from the pit, but unfortunately I was very disappointed discovered to find most of the packaged fruit were smaller and less plump, resembled "dried salty plums pits" instead of the advertised fuller quality portrayed in their advertisements.I highly recommend choosing the seedless option over this deficient product."Basically this product was literally just the PITS!"

Disappointing: No flavor, too salty, and basically unedible
My roommate recently brought back a bag of "salted dried plums" (saladitos) from Hong Kong, which I had never tried before. They were absolutely delicious! It was the first time I had experienced sweet, salty, and pseudo-sour all at the same time. After we finished them, I knew I had to get more. The best option on Amazon seemed to be these "El Super Leon"-brand in a 16oz bag. They were almost twice the price per-weight as the ones my roommate bought in Hong Kong, but I figured it was worth it for the import fees, etc. to get them again When they arrived however, I was extremely disappointed. These Saladitos are nothing at all like the ones I had before. Other reviewers commented on them being "too salty" -- I thought they were exaggerating, but now I believe it was an understatement. Placing one of these in your mouth is like pouring a can of Morton salt down your throat. Additionally, they appear much smaller and more red in color than the other saladitos, and have none of the "sweet" flavor. They are so dry that even after rinsing the salt off in the sink the meat does not peel off the skin. I tried eating a second one but couldn't stomach it -- the flavor is really quite bad, and the smell is offputting as well.I look forward to trying more saladitos in the future, but I would certainly avoid this brand in favor of something more genuine.
