I love everything about scrivener! This is the top of the class for leather bound journals. The look, the touch, the quality of everything! The paper for my writing experience has such a unique feeling with them leaving it a cotton type feeling to the paper. No bleed though with my rollerball, fountain, or ballpoint pens. Then it comes with a perfect, smooth writing, scrivener black ballpoint pen. Which is a beautiful addition to my collection. Thank you for creating this affordable gift to give or have set.

Our anniversary is coming up and I was looking for a gift for my wife. I wanted to get her something she would cherish. My wife keeps a regular journal and we both like to be environmentally responsible where possible. A friend linked me to a Scriveiner article on luxury minimalism which chimed with our views. I saw on their website that they were launching this journal.Normally I wouldn’t buy something without any reviews but from the look of it I knew my wife would love it. I especially liked that it was handmade and that they used recycled cotton for the paper. They talk about waste from the fashion industry and I love the thought that this waste is being recycled to make something so special. And it is special. I was expecting something good but this has just blown past my expectations.It comes in a recycled cotton bag which has a simple elegance. It’s an off-white colour and there is something classy about it in an understated way. The thickness of the leather surprised me given the price, it is much thicker than I had anticipated. It has a rich texture and a real leather smell. As you handle it the pattern changes. You can see from the pictures below how the look has changed. This is a journal that will last and will become more beautiful the more you use it.The paper is something else. It’s difficult to believe that you can produce something so beautiful from recycled material. It’s very thick, but not too thick. You can see and feel the texture, but it is still smooth. And it’s beautifully bound into the cover. There is tremendous attention to detail in so many areas and this is what makes this journal so special. Even the pen holder sits inside a gap created by the paper which means the journal isn’t distorted when you put a pen inside.I love this journal and I know my wife will be thrilled. I love how it’s made and what the company stands for. I’m not associated with this company in any way. I’ve not reviewed anything before on Amazon but this deserves to succeed. Hopefully this review and these images will help you to make up your mind as to whether this is the right journal for you.

Scrivener is top notch company with good values, great customer service, and beautiful products. I first purchased their midnight blue fountain pen. In the past, I’ve had bad experiences with fountain pens, but this time I was wowed.Ever detail of the pen is wonderful. The pacing of writing is different with a fountain pen, so with it, my thoughts are deep and drawn out—reflective. As I write slowly , my words on different lines create parallel sentences that help extend my ideas.Next I bought the gift set. Scrivener’s journals are well balanced and well crafted. For me, using it feels like a more special experience. The paper is smooth of a much higher quality than most journals. I’m a huge fan of Moleskine and use their line-less journals for miscellaneous thoughts and sketches. But I now use a Scrivener journal for more poetic writing, which I do at special times. Scrivener is just beginning their brand, and they have wonderful blog entries that really inspire me. No doubt, stories will be pouring in from around the world from people using these journals and pens in extraordinary ways and on amazing adventures.

GAAAAAAAAAH DAMN THIS PEN IS LIKE COCAINE FOR THE HANDS.I got the box. Was pretty excited to see how it would feel. When I wrote down those first few words, blew my mind away. Really smooth, really nice. There's a nice weight to it as well. I don't even write, but I'll start writing down more stuff because this feels mad smooth.What I didn't like, though, was the initial dusty-ass pen I was sent. This aint no ancient artifact being dug up by Indiana jones in some ruins. Tf is this? Why did the pen have dust on it when I opened it? Didn't bother to swipe it away before you put it in or something?I also opened the box underneath, fully expecting some sort of extra cartridge. Nope. There was none. Just the pen and a book. Pretty disappointing that it was dusty, and just added salt to the wound when there was no additional cartridges. And now I have a broken ass box that I can't even put my pen back into like a toy I don't want to disrespect and put on a pedestal.But, the pen itself is really nice. I ordered a few more pens and a fountain pen because I fully trust the quality. And for that, I'm out.

I bought this as a present to myself. I already bought a Scriveiner pen (which is awesome!) so I decided to buy a journal too. I was going to buy a 7x5 inch but noticed they had launched an 8x6. I thought the extra size might be nice.I am very happy with it! The leather is beautiful. It’s a lot thicker than I expected. It’s softer and more pliant as a result. It also seems to be very high quality leather. The size is very nice too. Not so big that I don’t want to carry it with me but plenty of space to draw and write on the same page. The paper is thick with a super texture. Very easy to write on.I can’t believe that you can get a handmade journal of this quality for less than $30.I would recommend this to anyone!

I just received my notebook and it is even better than it looks in the photographs! If you are looking for a high quality notebook that is beautifully crafted then this is the one to buy. The customer service is great too within a day of receiving my notebook I was contacted by the seller reminding me to register my purchase to get my free extended warranty.
