We Love it and it is easy to antique the finish if you want, it looks awesome! Only a month after I put it together, we live right in the area of the Lilac fires in San Diego hit hard and with really heavy 60 to 80 mph winds and it snapped the hold downs, it fell over and 3 blades broke but that windmill was sturdy and solid and great shape! I’m impressed with the design but how do we get another blade assembly? Please help

Purchased this item and was very disappointed in the quality of the wood components. With the exception of the leg pieces, literally everything was randomly cut and wrong, was too short and pieces that were the same were all different lengths and the end angles were an assortment of angles that were wrong. I am sure this manufacturer never heard of a jig! I couldn't believe the assortment of angle cuts that were on the ends of the "X" members. I would say the if the manufacturer were to actually cut the wood accurately, it would e a nice product, but the poor quality control is obvious. Even though I am pretty good with woodwork, I couldn't even see spending the time to "make it right" and re cut every "X" member and horizontal member so it would work. That would mean re doing every angle, matching the stain for the cuts, re staining and re clearing all the cuts. I called Amazon and they said they would send me another if I wanted and since my wife really wanted this for her new garden area, I accepted and figured I could get one good one out of the two. When it came, it looked like another company made it. It was a completely different stain color and finish, but the pieces were closer in accuracy so I spent 6 hours re-manufacturing the pieces it turned out good. If you are not a good wood worker and have the right shop tools, you may want to think twice about doing it. The first set came with a very red colored stain and a higher gloss clear finish and the second one came with a browner color and a more matte finish clear finish. This should have been a nice product if whoever was contracted to do cut and furnish the wood parts had any idea of what the heck they were doing!

Nice product instructions aren't too explanatory but if you know what you're doing you'll figure it out.

Not easy to assemble, the metal part of the windmill was great. The wood used was not good quality compared to the wind blade. The wood was second hand quality in ours. Split wood, measurements that wouldn’t line up and cheap quality. It would be a superior windmill if heavier wood was used.

I was a bit disappointed in the quality of the wooden frame work. it was warped and bent and split with end knots. The per-drilled assembly holes were in the wrong locations in some cases. and they provided the wrong type of screws for an exterior application. as well as metal to work screws. The head assembly is fine with one acceptation the head will not swivel in the breeze as it should because there is just to much friction where the support post meets the weather vain. But hey it looks good.

I liked everything about it

I did buy a slightly damaged return item and saved almost 100.00. So with that I am happy. I am missing 4 brackets which I will call Monday to get them to send out to me, the people who returned them probaly overlooked them or fell out of the box upon repackaging. I do not think it will be a problem. It is the 4 small brackets that hold the rebarb ground rods onto the legs. Another thing that is a little unsettling is the measurements. The parts in the box are off by 1/2 to 1/4 on the instructions sheet. So do we attempt to put it together as the pieces are, or do we cut to the paper instructions. Guess I will ask that question when I call Monday for the parts. So far so good.

Very well packed and high quality. Assembly takes a lil time but not difficult.
