Awesome lamp
GENERAL: I was looking for a creative lamp for my apartment, and saw this while surfing the web. Excellent purchase, so glad I decided to buy it, and to be honest, most lamps you buy that are of quality are going to be just as much and more, so try not to gawk too much at the price (almost $100 with shipping). Now I am a guy, and was a little nervous about it being pinkish, but when it arrived, is really a neutral/non-femenine kind of orangeishish pink. And to sum it up, after a week, I give it 5 stars *****Pros: Weighed in at exactly 45.5 lbs on arrival, so a very fair size. The cut they gave me is absolutely gorgeous on the front, really pro job of keeping it rugged and unique looking, but smooth to the touch. Overall it is a very pure stone, a few small and scattered "spots" or "impurities" on the backside, and it has some natural "fissures" inside that light up very nicely when it's turned on. I'd give it an overall A+ of a cut/quality. Arrived in 2 business days of purchase, and they called to let me know when it shipped.Cons: came with a 4 watt light-bulb. Seriously guys? First thing I did was spend an extra $3 and buy a 60w bulb which is really their bad in my opinion, but not enough to take off a star. 60w heats it very nicely, lightly warm, but by no means hot to the touch, and lights perfectly. I also invested an extra $20 in a dimmer, which I would consider very important, as I can choose the brightness at night to an luminescent glow just like the stones in The Temple of Doom, or a practical light. Per previous reviewer, no, there isn't a way to "secure" the lightbulb, as it sits nicely inside, but to be honest I don't know how they would do it otherwise and still let you change the bulb. Not an issue in my opinion, stays in when picked up, and makes for easy bulb change.Other: Ok, so if you've heard about this things "rejuvenating power" and all that hocus pocus, I've had this thing for a week, and it's a bunch of crap. I will admit I have used 4 less tissues per day out of 15 prior since I got it (yes I actually kept track, as I have allergies, and was curious). So I can't completely discount it's claim entirely, but will say that if you buy this salt lamp, get it because it's an awesome lamp, and a great conversation piece. Not because it "purifies the air".

gorgeous lamp, wonderful impact, highly recommended
Got my lamp yesterday. It was packed in lots of packing material and bubble. The cord and bulb was in another box away from the lamp. Both arrived safely. The bulb is tiny for the lamp but I am figuring they send it because it shows you the size of the bulb "bottom screw" that you need. If I were to just take the cord, it is a guessing game as to what bulb type would fit. Now with seeing the bottom of the bulb, I know what size of screw is needed to fix into the cord. The lamp has a wood base and then it is cut so that the bulb and wiring fit up inside it. You can just push the bulb and its insert up and the clamps fit against the tube inside. I bought a 25 watt bulb and that works fine. It highlights about 2/3 of the lamp and gives a nice effect without any concern for heat (which I don't want). The plants love it; they perked up like they had more stem strength the next morning after having it in the room overnight. I have this in a very large room (about 25' long by 12' wide) and this energy I can feel throughout the room. The wood base is very nice. It has inserts in it so you can position the cord any direction. The lamp weighs about 42 lbs. It is gorgeous. It has various tones in it. I have a couple of older salt lamps and each one is different in color tone and how the cording is assembled. I will be buying another lamp from this company. They packed it well on all parts and everything worked fine. I have been interested in this type of lamp especially in getting a larger size as it does vary from room to room as to the size of the lamp to room size ratio. If the lamp is too small, the impact is not noticeable. I had a small five pound lamp in my work office and recently put a much bigger one in it and then I could really feel my lungs improving and my breathing less challenged during the day. Several asthmatic friends of mine recommended the salt lamp idea, but also focused on the issue of getting a larger lamp for the room(s). Huge difference once I upped the lamp size. I moved the medium size salt lamp into the bedroom area and it works very well in that size room. This lamp size works great for the living room area. So it really does depend on the size of the room or the apartment as to the health impacts. And do know each lamp is different, no two will be alike. Expecting the lamp to look like the picture is really not realistic. Any salt lamp you buy will be unique in color, tone, and shape. Highly recommended.

Magnificent and Beautiful! The best salt lamp I have ever seen!
My girlfriend wanted a large salt lamp for Christmas. After searching many companies and all shapes and sizes of salt lamps, I finally settled on this salt lamp by Black Tai Salt. Boy was I happy with this decision. The salt lamp I received was simply magnificent. It weighed in right around 50 pounds, and the shape and color of it was just breathtaking. And my oh my, you should see this thing glow. I can without question say this is the most beautiful salt lamp I have ever seen, and it is just simply an amazing decoration for our living room. There are some dark areas on the lamp where the light doesn't shine through, but I think this gives it a really unique look to it. Having an uneven glow around the parts that are hollowed out, and the parts that aren't, really makes this thing stand out and look stunning. If you are looking to a salt lamp as a source of light to light up a room, I would suggest something else. These do give off light, but not so much that it's going to fill up a room. Think more along the lines of nightlight status. The glow really is moreso there to bring out the beauty of the salt lamp.I couldn't be more thrilled with this purchase, as it is a marvelous and beautiful addition to our home. Thank you Black Tai Salt Co. for delivering such a great product!!
