Nothing less than the best...
Like many of you (undoubtedly,) I was initially led to this product by several of the more popular BBQ channels on YouTube. Having waded through numerous "off the shelf" commercial smoking/barbecue rubs over the past few years - some good, many bad - I was anxious to try a product that some of the "most trusted" barbecue voices on the internet utilized and enjoyed. When I discovered that I could purchase this product through Amazon, I eagerly jumped at the opportunity.The product itself if nothing short of top notch. While those reviewers who mention the "sweetness" of this rub are certainly accurate, the exact flavor profile is rather complex, especially when used on meat that is then smoked. Sweetness is certainly present, but there is also a very nice salty/savory undertone, and a wonderful "round/meaty" note on the finish. The rub forms a wonderful, flavorful bark when applied to meats before smoking. The sweet notes of the rub work extremely well with pork (which was the primary use/intent of the rub's creators), but the underlying savory notes pair well with chicken and fish. I've yet to use the rub on beef, but I've seen videos/read recipes from those who have, with all praising the results. Flying Swine also makes a phenomenal "base" rub for those choosing to do their own experimentation and/or flavor layering, as is often the case in competition cooks.Word of this product and its quality apparently spread pretty quickly, as it soared to become the #1 spice product/rub on Amazon in late 2015, before completely selling out in the days before Christmas. When the company replenished its stock in early January 2016, I eagerly snatched up two more bags! All in all, you'd be hard pressed to find a better, more user-friendly "commercial" barbecue rub that meets the needs of both the backyard barbecuer and the competition cook.

I highly recommend this rub for use on pork.
I have my own rib rub I've refined and been using for a few years, but its pretty spicy and so I only use it when I know my guests will enjoy something with a fair amount of heat. I was looking for a good rub that would appeal to all kinds of rib lovers, and one that didn't have a bunch of chemicals and preservatives in it. Based on other reviews I gave Flying Swine a try and am glad I did. I put a pretty thick coat of the rub on a rack of babybacks and let them sit for three days. The rub worked into the meat nicely. Just before going into the smoker I gave them another light dusting. I used the "2-2-1" smoker method with pecan chips in the hopper. The result were juicy, delicious ribs that had a decent thin bark and a smoky sweet flavor. I gave my neighbor a few to sample and he gave them five out of five stars. Based on this I bought another bag and rubded three more racks of babybacks to feed to my family on Father's Day. Three days in big ziplocks after a nice coat of the rub, then into the smoker with a light dusting. Used pecan again. Again we had a nice, juicy smoky-sweet ribs. My entire family, from my picky-eater sisters, to my eat-anything brother in law all raved about the flavor of the ribs. You could still taste the pork, with the rub bringing in a great flavor profile and helping the smoker create a nice bark on the meat. Overall I highly recommend this rub for use on pork, the resulting flavor seems to appeal to various palates without compromise. I hope to do a pork butt soon using this rub.

Great flavor
On a recommendation from my son, I purchased this seasoning for pork belly. If you have never had this combo, you need to try it. You will never eat pork belly without Flying Swine seasoning again! The package said "all-purpose" and I have used it on pork, chicken, and fish (salmon.) They have all turned out to be absolutely delicious! I am gluten-intolerant and have found the original seasoning does NOT trouble me. I hesitate to try the other flavors because I cannot find enough information on the ingredients. This product is a little pricey and is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

Master BBQ Judge Opinion...
I'm a KCBS Certified Master BBQ Judge and I have tasted a LOT of different rubs over the years. Flying Swine has hit it out of the park with this all purpose rub! This rub adds a nice hint of sweetness along with heartyness to the smokey flavor of the meat. If you're looking for spicy, you will have to add your favorite heat source because this rub concentrates on the right balance of sugars, salts, and hearty earthy flavors.My family and friends have asked what I have done differently with my BBQ and I tell them it's the new rub! Everyone loves it. Not only is it great on shoulder, ribs, and loin, it is amazing on simply grilling some pork chops. I have reordered twice and will have to restock again soon! Thank you guys for a delicious product!!!

A Definite Winner !
I’ve been smoking meat for years and have used many many rubs. I used this rub on three Berkshire butts on my pit boss pellet smoker. During the smoke I had people coming over and raving just over the aroma. When I pulled the butts and sliced off bits of meat and fat with this rub, for myself and a few other connoisseurs, we just started laughing at how good this was. We just kept slicing off bites and laughing. The looks were of “OMG”. I am trying this rub on a slab of pork belly tomorrow. It has sugar in the rub so careful on temp. I did 250 for several hours and it was, IMO, one of the best tasting rubs I’ve ever used.I’m definitely a repeat buyer.

It's really hard to find a rub without salt as the main ingredient or so much sugar that it's too sweet. With a lot of sugars in this one I was skeptical but based on the reviews I tried this one and went all in, smoked 4 pork butts and they turned out amazing. Just the right balance of sweet and salt, not sure how they get that much taste out of some pretty simple ingredients but it works.I also really like the fact that it's not loaded with a bunch of chemicals you can't even pronounce.

Great tasting rub!!!
I have a member of my household that can’t handle hot spices. It took me awhile to find a rub without any chili powder or other hot spices. This one tastes great and everyone loved it on pulled pork! Will definitely buy more!
