Drinking with Chickens: Free-Range Cocktails for the Happiest Hour

Drinking with Chickens is the perfect gift for a chicken mom. The photos are stunning with beautiful backdrops- makes you envious but motivated to decorate your coop a bit. The author features her own birds and sometimes a surprise guest dog. The book is full of cocktail recipes. I don’t drink alcohol often so haven’t tried many of them but I enjoy the stories aka chitter chat humor that goes along with it. I follow her blog and was looking forward to receiving my copy of the book. The blog has won many awards including a save it magazine award - ohlala-I used to get that magazine but it was way too fancy for me to actually cook but it inspired me! Since I received my copy of Kate Richards “ drinking e weigh chickens” book. I’ve purchased 5 more for friends. I give it 5 stars!The only question I have is when can we get a calendar? And how can my chickens audition to be a model?update / edit. HEY the calendar is for sale. What the CLUCK? I ordered 3. Now the model question.

Nothing makes me happier than getting a new cocktail book with great pictures and all original recipes. Author is really skilled at creating interesting flavor combinations and great tasting drinks. I’ve made the apple blossom Mai Tai and the cantaloupe mint rum punch.. both were fantastic! Be prepared that there are some ingredients that are really difficult to find, but if you’re willing to improvise you’ll be happy. Really hope she creates more books!

This book reads just like her blog - it’s witty and funny mixed with delicious cocktails and colorful pictures of CHICKENS! Kate takes you through the tools needed for cocktailing, recipes for infusing spirits, tips on using your own garden grown ingredients, and chickens. Lots and lots of chickens. I’m off to make a Honeyed Paloma because it’s 5 “o’cluck” somewhere!

I have enjoyed making a couple of the cocktails from this book. It’s a fun read for anyone, especially the chicken enthusiast

Bought this book for my Mom and gave it to her early so we could make a few of the recipes over the Thanksgiving holiday. I love that the book is done by seasons and uses fresh garden materials for that particularly season. Any special mixes (ie. Orange Bourbon) are provided as separate instructions in the book, so you can ensure you have everything and don't need to make a special order online or in store.The Winter Eggnog was especially good. The Orange Chicory was a bit strong for everyone but that was my fault; I should have gone with less is more in terms of booze.Highly recommend this book for chicken lovers, drink lovers, and especially lovers of chickens and drinks!

Gave this to my chicken-loving friend as a white elephant gift. She loved it! I can’t wait to try some of these cocktails! The photos in this book are very well done and colorful. The author put a lot of thought into this book and the recipes.

Such an amazing recipe book filled with recipes, pictures, tips and funny anecdotes of course. I was pleasantly surprised at how many actual recipes are in here - it’s a thick book! I bought it for a birthday gift for my friend who has chickens, but I like it so much, I’m buying one for myself too!

Adorable, well-written, and the perfect gift for my coworker who both owns chickens and enjoys a good drink. Can't wait to give it to her! May have to buy one for myself, it's that cute.
