May Arts 1/4-Inch Wide Ribbon, Champagne Silk Ribbon

I have been using silk ribbon for a very long time as I do a lot of professional sewing and have my own miniature business. I use the ribbon for embroidery, sewing it on small costuming for dolls and figures, antique dolls costuming, etc.There have been few negative reviews on this particular silk in the 1 1/2 in. category. The reason for this is the standard description placed by amazon.com (I am assuming) that this silk ribbon can be used for wrapping packages. I beg to differ and amazon.com should recommend other ribbons for wrapping such as gross grain, satin or wired ribbon which holds its shape way better than silk would. There are silk ribbons for wrapping gifts and such, but the ones I have seen have wired edges or the silk is labeled as Dupioni or it has a thicker weave to it.I have recently purchased quite a few silk ribbons by MayArts in all the different sizes they offer and I am happy with it. The only reason I have given it four stars is because the pictures, although professionally done, do not reflect exactly the color of the ribbons. Maybe the computer screens display them differently, but expect that the colors are much darker than what you see on the screen. For example the yellow they offer, SK 27,is not a pale, pastel yellow as the screen shows but more of a sunflower yellow. Because I use silk ribbon often I have contacted MayArts and was sent samples of the colors available so I have a very good idea of what they look like so I can order exactly what I like. Hoping this review helps customers decide on their purchase and that amazon.com keeps selling this particular brand of silk ribbons.

I do silk ribbon embroidery and was surprised to see 7mm and 36mm silk ribbons at such a great price for large spools. I ordered some to try and I am very pleased with them. The ones that I received were the exact colors that I saw on my monitor. The quality is comparable to my other silk ribbons that cost me so much more. I have not tried to dye these yet, so I do not know how well they dye, but in any case they are worth the price and are worth 5 stars. Highly recommend!!!

I love these ribbons. Bought in variety of colors and widths. Good quality. This one is much darker than I see it on my monitor. I would call this color coffee brown.

I am a crazy quilter and do ribbon embroidery on my quilts. I use this silk ribbon and dye it myself. It take the dye well and stitches very well. Love it!!! A great inexpensive alternative to other ribbons.

Utter garbage. I bought this in black and antique gold for historical costuming (ties with points) and the quality is severely lacking. The ribbon is very thin, with holes occasionally spaced in it. So far I have found 4 separate pieces on the spool, which should be continuous. I would have returned it were I not under a time crunch for a particular outfit, but I will eventually have to go back and replace all the ties as these are already splitting apart.

I'm really happy with this ribbon. It is the same quality at about !/4 the price of other suppliers on amazon. I use this for Silk Ribbon embroidery and it performs just as I expected. I've been dying it with silk fabric dye and it looks great.

May Arts always has the most beautiful ribbons. This one did not disappoint. I love wrapping presents with these beautiful silk ribbons.

i do a tremendous amount of crazy quilting and ribbon embroidery and have decided on saving money and dying my own ribbonthis takes to a dye so well and dries fast!it handles great going through with the needle and fabric alsoi liked it so much i got the 1/8 size too!
