Great traction for a fast tire and good performance in wet conditions
Tires roll nice and fast. Excellent balance between weight, strength, and traction for a XC tire. Much better traction than other tires I have had that were similar for straight-line speed. Tires performed well in snow/icy conditions and were great in heavy rain; I went for one rainy ride when I had not gotten fenders for new bike yet and I had much less spray back into my face than I expected due to tires shedding water so well. No flats or punctures yet which is a frequent issue where I live with a lot of road debris and broken glass on sidewalks and paths. I did have some problems with them holding pressure at first (would lose about 10-15 PSI overnight), but after a few days it stopped, so if you have similar issues running tubeless you might just need to give it a couple days.

My new favorite MTB tire
MTB tires are getting to be as expensive as car tires for 1/5 the materials. After using Continental Race King and Cross Kings for so long, I thought I had the perfect tire setup. I had the opportunity to ride a rental bike in AZ that had these tires and was impressed with how fast they rolled and cornered. Very “flickable” was the comment I kept making to myself. Came home from my trip and ordered these for my Top Fuel. I was impressed how quickly they set up. Normally I need to put a tube in the Conti’s to form the bead, let it sit for a couple of hours, then remove the tube and fill with sealant. With the Ikons, it was literally install the tire, sit in the spoke bed, and pump it up. I did not need to use sealant or a compressor just to set the bead. After setting the bead, I deflated and put Stans Race sealant in, and let it sit. 24 hours later, the tires were still holding 40psi. I’ve had two rides with them in the dry conditions of the N Georgia mountains, and am still impressed with how fast they are and grip on the dry conditions. The jury is still out on wet performance. I’ll be ordering a set of these for my hardtail when the Conti’s wear out.

Great gravel tire for the MTB too!
I live in an area where there’s lots of category 3 & 4 gravel, so MTB’s are common in these roads. The Ikons work great! Good grip. Reasonable speed (well, they were 2.2” feet wide!). I’ve got about 110 gravel miles on them and 10 on single track. Completely satisfied with them!

Great tires for not only mtb, but gravel bikes too
For the last year and a half I have been running 650b x 47 tires on my Salsa Journeyman. While they're great for some racing and other light off-pavement rides, they don't do well on a lot of chunky gravel and singletrack that we have here where I live. I do a lot of bikepacking so I decided to give the Maxxis Ikon's a try after doing some research.I traditionally use WTB tires but they are very difficult to mount and dismount. Maxxis tires are a breeze in this case. These are rated as an XC tire but did well with grip and handling on a fully loaded bike. They rolled well on pavement, hard pack, loose, gravel and did really well in wet conditions.Unfortunately I only got in about 8 rides on them before a woman hit me with her car, destroying my bike. I am keeping the Ikon's to mount on my next gravel rig because I'm so happy with them.

Great rear tire. ..
Very happy with this tire. ..I ride in PA and NY, very rocky and full of roots. I run the Ikon, 2.35 as a rear tire abs the Ardent, 2.4 in the front. Great combo. My previous rear tire was a 2.1 Crossmark, I don't notice any difference in rolling resistance during climbs with the wider tire. I notice resistance on the flats a little though. To me totally worth it because the grip in the corners during the downhill is unbelievable. I don't race and only climb so I can go down, this tire is really good.Couple of thing I noticed. ..this tire likes to skid when applying the brakes something I'll get used to. The inky thing I don't like is that its pretty soft, I hope it lasts. The trails can punish a tie in no time where I ride. ..I guess I'll find out.

Excellent XC Race Tire
This is the tire that all the guys I ride with and I use for racing. It is extremely fast, and the EXO makes it very durable for such a light tire. It's also one of the easiest tires to set up Tubeless that I have used to date. It holds its grip exceptionally well on rocks and loose climbs, and it also corners well if you hold your technique. Some of my friends experience some washout in hard flat corners, but I have not had that problem and we all ride at similar speeds so the difference must be cornering technique. All in all, this is my current favorite race tire. There are some faster tires out there, but I don't like flats. I also like to run an Ardent on the front, but I can FEEL the added weight/drag when I am racing...so I've gone to a IKON on both front and back this season.

rolls fast
always a great choice for speed. all these bikes come with knobby heavy tires, they grip ok but roll slow. icons are noticably faster and let you feel the bike underneath you.” loose is fast and on the edge of out of control.” harry from days of thunder.

Very predictable
Very predictable and fast rolling compared to my stock tire. Love them so far.

Not what I purchased
I purchased two already overpriced tires for $179.00 dollars. They go for less than 50 each elsewhere. I received one tire and the information on the updated order changed. One it took forever to show up. It must have come by stagecoach.
