It takes quite the technique to learn but very valuable for gem identification.

It works…not great, but it works. It is not a clear as other models, but you can still get a reading. You get what you paid for. As others have noted the solution arrives leaked out and crystallized all over the packaging, but can easily be cleaned up.

The media could not be loaded. This is a must have tool for anyone interested in gemstones. You’ll also need a dichroscope and spectroscope!

The refractometer index fluid was half empty and had solidified at the opening of the bottom. I didn’t trust the fluid to be accurate. I feel that the item has been sitting in storage for a long time and have evaporated out. I ended up returning it because I was not pleased with this purchase.

Well made for the price, very accurate when using a jewel with a flat surface

First order arrived with an empty bottle, and the replacement arrived with a half-empy bottle. Can't use the tool without the fluid, so this product is just ok.

I gave it to my husband as a Christmas gift. He seemed very pleased with it.
