Aerator
This is good but it also gives you a good work out. I used it and I have seen a big difference in my grass.

Forget this one
The first time I used these 3 spikes bent and 1 pulled all the way through the "sandal" causing them to become unstable and causing me to fall on the driveway resulting in injuries to my knee, hand and shoulder. The mat is not strong enough to keep loop the spikes vertical under stress. There is basically one strap that holds the "sandal" to your boot or shoe. The strap crisscrosses in the front, passing through 4 slots in the sandal, and then through 2 more slots toward the rear before crossing the instep where it buckles. This makes it difficult to adjust strap properly. The instructions say to fasten the sandal to your shoe before putting the shoe on your foot, and then tighten the straps. A similar item listed on Amazo n appears to use 2 separate straps. The spikes themselves seem to be of good sturdy quality. They are long enough and thick enough to do a good job aerating the soil. Note: some assembly required. The back end of each spike is threaded. You must insert the spikes into the mat or "sandal" and attach it with a nut. A wrench is provided for tightening the nuts. However the mat is not strong enough to hold the spikes securely in a vertical position. The mat ("sandal") has a vertical curb to snug up to the heel of the shoe. However my size 11 work boots could slide about 1/3 of an inch side to side, so that toe of my boot was sometimes off the mat/sandal. The slots that the straps passed through were the only thing that limited the side to side movement of my boot. I guess they had to be placed wide enough to fit a size 16 work boot. One size fits all. Some better than most. Needless to say I returned them for a refund. The nice thing about Amazon is that they will give you a QR code to show the UPS store. With the QR code UPS will pack and return the item at no cost to you. But if you print the label you have to pack the item for return. If I had to pack these for return I would have to remove all 52 nuts and remove the studs in order to get it in the original box. And once UPS scans the QR code Amazon treats the item as returned and issues the refund immediately. And I returned the free shovel, which I never wanted. It was way too small for anything I've ever done with a shovel.

Cost Effective way to Areate your lawn
For those of us with smaller lots. Townhouses and .10 acre plots. The sandals are tedious to use. You have to literally tread every square inch of your yard. But the weight of your body does a better job than some of the rollers out there.Product was easy to assemble. Seems sturdy. Some advice:1. Wear boots with Ankle support. The spikes sink in unevenly and you WILL "ankle over" constantly.2. Follow the instructions! fit the sandals to the boots, then put the boots on.3. Make sure the straps are TIGHT. Otherwise the sandals will fall off in seconds.4. A walking stick may help you balance as the footing becomes quite uneven as the spikes meet varying resistance as they sink in.

it's kinda of a workout to use
overall they work okay but will get stuck to ground if your soil is wet but the little shovel that comes with is very cute

Keep coming loose.
These work well if you can just figure out how to stop the laces from loosening while you walk. I have to constantly retighten them. The spring loaded metal lace grippers aren’t strong enough, especially when the spikes sink deep into the ground requiring lots of pulling back up. This nearly resulted in inadvertently stepping on or tripping and falling on the spikes when they flipped over.I need a backup method like a bungee cord or Velcro strips or duct tape. Or all three!

Does not work with damp clay soil.
I like the sturdy shoes and lengthy spikes although the strap kept loosening as I tried to walk in the clay soil. They stuck like glue and I almost fell several times. The basic style is fine and I feel they would have done a good job, and would have given me a nice workout. But, they are useless to me. I might try again with drier soil, but I am skeptical. My sibling will get them more than lukely.

Cool idea!
Wonderful tool, easy enough to assemble comes with a tool and cleaning shovel which you will definitely need if your soil is too damp. You may want to cross cross your straps to insure they stay tight to your boot or else it may come loose and bend as your stepping and snap the tough plastic it is made of. Other than that, I would purchase again but I was able to snap my cracked one back in place, sorta. Still works! I put on my head phones and went to town.
