Sunny Sunday Crosswords

Every thing to recommend, little to disappoint
I'll be posting all of this review on the following sites (i.e., all in this series currently published by 12/11): Walk in the Park Sunday, Three-day Weekend, Sunny Sunday, Weekend Getaway, and Sunday Brunch. The facts are:1) printed on very good quality paper2) one puzzle plus clues per page3) print and squares large enough for older eyes4) individual leafs -- a puzzle on each side -- easily ripped from spiral binding5) superb editing: as far as I can remember, absolutely no typos6) hardly any gratuitously obscure clues: everything fair and above boardNow to the opinion: Just in case a crossword puzzle in any book or newspaper might be too easy, I work the puzzle as a sort of Scrabble; i.e., I can start the puzzle anywhere, but must play off existing words only and can't begin again elsewhere on the puzzle until I'm absolutely stumped and can no longer play off what I have already written in. (Yes, I use ink.) I estimate that I became "stumped" in fewer than one out of five puzzles. I do not consider these especially easy, but neither are they terribly difficult. Perhaps a few are challenging. Some have clever gimmicks. Just about every one is fun. These are top quality, well-edited, fair play, medium difficulty crossword puzzles.

Great crosswords but check the dates, some are quite old.
Some are from quite a few years ago so can be much more difficult

Best crosswords ever!
These are the only crossword books I enjoy. Challenging but not ridiculously so.

Exceptionally DIFFICULT!
I find most of the puzzles in the Stanley Newman series challenging but enjoyable. I complete about a third, and almost complete the rest (except for Merle Baker's and Stanley Newman's). It seems I've worked just about every collection he's published, so decided on Leslie Billig this time. A definite mistake! These puzzles are WAY beyond my abilities. If you're one of those brainiacs who work in pen, sharpen your pencil for these!

Great puzzles and great paper
As I have become a regular buyer of crossword puzzle books, I have noticed that this book, and I assume the similar series, has challenging but doable puzzles, quality binding and really nice paper. I didn't notice how beneficial it was to have nice paper until I got this book. Now I have become a paper snob and have ordered several more of this series. I highly recommend.

Love these crossroads.
This whole series of crossroads are great. Challenging but not impossible. Iโm almost through with my fourth book and canโt wait to, gradually, order the rest of the series.

On par with the NY & LA Times!
This is my 4th or 5th of these Sunday books by Leslie, so needless to say, I'm more than pleased. Difficulty level is as advertised - your typical Sunday puzzle (so many crossword books rate themselves more difficult than they actually are). Also a good stable of contributors (names I've seen many times before).

I've never enjoyed a series of crossword books this much
I've never enjoyed a series of crossword books this much. "Sunny Sunday" is my second Leslie Billig puzzle book and I intend to order every book that bears her name. The puzzles are difficult and challenging, but not impossible to complete. Each puzzle has its own theme and personality and none of those ridiculous clues, like "Tasmanian beetle." Be prepared for a few chuckles in each puzzle, such as when the answer to "small flower" turns out to be "creek."

Five Stars
It's fine but you need a bigger selection. I've finished the whole series.
