Restarting clarinet after over 50 years, I find Demnitz a very well-organized and well-produced source of varied, tuneful and useful exercises for all the skills need to play indeed any wind instrument. Unlike much modern teaching material, there are no nursery school songs or simplified tunes to play. And unlike the French methods such as Klosé, in which the student will be overwhelmed after the first few pages, progress is much more gentle. I think that the clarinet student, especially if working without a formal teacher, should combine this book with the masterful series by Wehle. Both Demnitz and Wehle are classics of their kind and indispensable.

Was soll ich sagen? Eine klassische Schule zum Erlernen der Fähigkeiten auf der Klarinette. Ist wirklich zu empfehlen, da sie alles umfasst. Nicht gerade leicht und ohne entsprechenden Trainer schwer zu bewältigen. Es ist kein Werk, das man als autodidaktischer Klarinettenspieler wählen sollte. Mit Hilfe ist es ein absolutes Standardwerk.
