Wonderful case
The media could not be loaded. First, let me say the only reason I’m not giving this case 5 stars is that it arrived with a damaged latch on the front, which you can see in the video. We fly for our documentary every weekend so sending it back for a replacement case wasn’t an option, but Gator instantly shipped me a replacement latch. Their customer service is great. I work as a DIT, so my cases go through a lot of wear & tear. This case was actually purchased due to my previous one being damaged beyond repair by the Airline company. So far this one is holding up great with no issues.

Great product, but not exactly what I expected
I found this product on the Gator website after looking at every one of their products, and this one finally ended up being the perfect fit for what I'm needing it for (to haul my small PA gear). It is light weight, its got wheels that are real smooth, and it's the perfect size. The only thing that is a little misleading is the "laptop or mixer" part. It works great for a lap top, but unless you have a really low profile mixer then your going to be squeezing it in there (my 8 channel mixer just squeezes in there and it makes the cover bulge because its height is a little tall). You might be able to get a little more room by removing the foam out from the cover (but I haven't done that yet just because it's so nice and I hate to cut it out). I have a 14 channel mixer that doesn't fit in the top at all, it just barely sticks out over the edge, and that was the one I wanted to fit, but oh well.Overall, I'm very impressed with the quality of the case, the locks, the covers, even the laptop holder area, but the laptop area is a little too small if you want to fit a normal sized small mixer in there, although you can make it work like I have. This would be perfect for a small portable recording rig with a laptop!

Great idea but...
I purchased this thinking I could get smaller with my Karaoke rig using the Behringer mono 5 channel mixer amp. That's another review and it has problems if you're thinking of rack mounting that mistake. But concerning this unit, the top portion is a very tight fit for a 17" Dell, too tight for my original purposes. There is a round routing hole in the bottom of the tray for cables. But with the so tight fit a 17" laptop doesn't work for me. I tried a 15" and while it's more adaptable, I still didn't like the fit. I finally settled on a 14" Toshiba. This way I can mount the laptop in the rig on a semi permanent basis, so that all I have to do is remove the lid, open the laptop and power up.As for protection, it's dense, can't imagine any harm coming to your laptop. As some others have said I might not want to ship this or buddle it into a cargo trailer, but I inten on riding mine in the back of my jeep. Combined with the Behringer which I had to modify to make work and a couple of vintage Peavy Impulse 12's, my lug in to the Karaoke show is alot easier now.

Not for mixers
Does not fit any Mackie mixer or any muxer for that matter. Only for a laptop. Gator really does not make a portable case for a true mixer that fits their other cases. Disappointing.
